Hanover Festival by Philip Sparke was specialy written for the fifteenth jubilee year of the Hanover Wind Symphony of New Jersey, U.S.A. This piece shows how a full musical composition emerges from only one idea. After a slow fanfare-like introduction a fast virtuoso section follows, putting great demands on the performers. Wonderful musical themes together with fascinating instrumentation characterize this middle part. The piece closes just as majestically as it began. Hanover Festival forms a great overture for your concert but may also be performed in the middle of the program.
