Comments about Aulos A533B Plastic Bass Recorder:
I received my Aulos Bass Recorder in F and found the reviews of this recorder elsewhere (all 5 star) right on. It is easy to play, has a lovely tone, and so far (I'm still learning the bass clef notes--my other recorders are all Treble Clef instruments) its pitch and intonation has been right on. Low notes on any recorder are the hardest to play, requiring a soft breath, and often have a tendency to easily break into a higher pitched note, but the Aulos seems to have less of this problem than some others. For example, low 'G' plays beautifully providing one's breath at the beginning is properly gentle. There is no tendency to jump to a higher pitch. The tone is mellow and nice. I like it! Furthermore, the cost of the Aulos, as compared with wooden bass recorders puts this bass easily within reach of the non-professional player and student (not to mention professionals who want the benefits of a plastic recorder as compared with the requirements of caring for a wooden instrument).
