I cannot recommend this or any of the other similar tube stands for anything but home use. The horn is held at a higher angle than on better designed stands, which leads to a higher center of gravity and less secure grip at the bell cradle. The lower support offers less stability than the two prong type supports. It does not fold very compactly, so it is awkward to transport outside of a vehicle. The good thing about this stand is the mechanical simplicity. There's nothing to wear out or break, provided the support screw remains tightened. But I don't think it is secure enough to use where there's any traffic to speak of, like on a stage or at a group practice. Investing in a more secure stand could save a big repair bill in the long run.
I love this stand. When I go to performances, I have all 3 of my instruments on it, (flute, clarinet, and alto/ tenor sax) and it works beautifully. I would recommend this.
