Comments about Breedlove Discovery Maple Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
I own / have owned numerous quality acoustic guitars... Martins (D41 Special, D-16, 2012 D-18) Taylor 214CE, 614CE Larrivee D03 all mahogany (awesome guitar), Breedlove, Blueridge, Epiphones, etc.
I had sold my 614CE because I didn't like the pickup.. but maple is *the* backside tone wood of chose to break through the mix... trust me... I've tried mahogany, rosewood, etc... nothing beats maple to break through the mix... especially for worship music...
This guitar is simply phenomenal for the price point... It doesn't come with built in pickup but I picked up a L.R. Baggs Anthem, but haven't installed yet... but playing it is a complete joy... it is so loud... the body is lightweight and it is has awesome tone... not the overtones of mahogany and rosewood... but very focused primary harmonics... which allows it to cut through the mix...
If you're looking for a awesome low-priced guitar for worship... and are not asphyxiated on Taylor... you need to check this out... frankly it's louder than most dreads... but based on your playing it's totally appropriate for worship... i.e. you don't need a grand auditorium...
Checked the tuning at the 12 fret... dead on... the tuners are fantastic... the sound is focused.. but can be driven hard by hard strumming... very balanced... not bassy...... but very loud... so it's a guitar you can pick lightly and the sound project... pick up the attack and the guitar comes alive...
The action is great... the bridge could be shaved a bit to bring down the action... but it's fine with me...
