Buffet quality at a manageable price.
Traditionally available in A, Eb and C, with the introduction of the new Buffet Crampon E11 France Bb clarinet, Buffet has taken the design of the E11 one step further. First, these clarinets are now produced in France along with the legendary R13 lending more continuity to the line. The interior bore has been redesigned and perfected according to the standard set in the R13 series. These clarinets are free blowing, with excellent intonation, as well as the renowned hand-finishing that Buffet's France workshops are known for.
Recommended by music teachers because of its easy response and remarkable accuracy, this clarinet helps the musician to develop his or her musical talent. The E11 clarinet is made of African blackwood, which is also called M'Pingo wood. This special wood is found in the forests of Mozambique and Tanzania. M'Pingo wood is known for its resonance and stability, making it an ideal material for musical instruments.
It features an adjustable thumb rest, silver-plated keywork, 17 keys, 6 metal rings, double fish skin pads, and pointed needle springs. This fine clarinet is delivered in case, with mouthpiece, ligature and accessories.
Buffet Crampon has been making professional clarinets since 1825 and this wealth of experience can be seen in the quality of the student range.

I used a plastic student Yamaha model all through elementary and middle school, but my freshman year in high school I upgraded to the E11 France. The change in sound was huge! Much better quality instrument than the Yamaha! It's not cheap, but it's worth the price to an advancing student like myself.
We bought this for our son, to replace his beginner student model. This is a great clarinet, moderate priced. You get many of the features of the popular R-13, at a lower price. R-13 is the clarinet of choice by many, but not for us at this time because of the cost. If you have a plastic clarinet and upgrade to a wood clarinet, you will immediately hear the warmer, richer tones with a wood clarinet. I am happy with this purchase for the advancing student/intermediate player.
I got this clarinet in seventh grade. I am now playing 1st chair at my high school and in my senior year. While I am planning on majoring in sax, clarinet will definitely be a minor of mine in college. My recomendation is to try to find a German made E11, as that is what I have, but the French made ones are perfectly fine, too.
I'm a student, not a professional. I've been playing the clarinet for 4 years and...wanted a step up from my "last minute" clarinet. I'm not majoring in music, but I love Buffet. When it shipped, everything was fine and my teacher checked it out. He was surprised and all for a student to get this. But he assured me it'd get a very good sound. IT DID. The craftsmanship is noticeable and genteel. I'll be using this Buffet until high school (12th grade) and I'm sure it'll do me good. Thanks, Buffet.
