The Conn "CONNstellation" 52BSP Bb trumpet is designed as a professional instrument but is positioned as intermediate. The .462" large bore, reverse leadpipe construction, and single radius main tuning slide combine to produce a very open free-blowing feel. The seamless 4-7/8" yellow brass bell provides great projection and control. The professional Monel piston material provides smooth and quick action. The 1st valve thumb saddle allows for easy intonation adjustments. The patented Modular Valve Weight (MLW) system gives the player a choice in response and feel. The silver-plate finish provides a controlled brilliance to the overall sound. The Conn 52BSP is one of the most versatile trumpets available today.

Ok, first of all this horn IS the King Legend. Great horn. Same tooling and specs. I perform daily on the King Legend with an Edwards 1C heavy mouthpiece with great results. For some reason, UMI decided to quite marketing the Legend and are now producing this horn under the CG Conn badge. King used to offer the Legend in regular (.459) and large (.464) bore but the new Connstellation is just offered in Lg bore. This horn plays dark. Period. I have found that if it gets bright it is due to the player NOT the horn. The short throw pistons and heavy top caps make note changes quick and clean. This is a feature you might find on a more expensive custom made horn. Thanks to the reversed lead and heavy weight construction this horn projects like nobody's business. For a horn that plays typically dark, it is very focused and clear overtones. Makes it a quick responding heavyweight horn... Excellent. There is No other horn in this price range that even compares to the quality and craftsmanship of the new Connstellation. If you can get your hands on a Connstellation or a Legend you, my friend, have found a keeper.

Beware. This is a Conn 52BSP you get if you order this. Yes, that's what you'll get, BUT it does NOT look like the photo shown here and on most other major musical instrument supplier websites similar to this one and all shipping from Missouri from exact same warehouse. I informed them of this but they have not changed the photo. The item you get is WAY different in appearance. Not nearly as beautifully made aesthetically as what is shown here. Be warned. Tubing is not knurled. Scrollwork on bell WAY different. Mpouthpiece receiver different. Valve casing midline design different. Top valve caps on what you get NOT silver plated like shown, just brushed aluminum is what it appeared like to me, wouldn't polish at all. It played pretty well, although I found it a bit stuffy in the upper register. Hey, if appearance matters, and you want to buy what you see, DON'T buy this. If you don't care to be bait and switched go ahead, buy this.

Exceeded my expectations. The quality is first rate. Absolutely stunning to look at. My last trumpet was a Schilke (many years ago) and I didn't expect to be so impressed with this model. I thought the valve weights were hype but I do sense greater projection with them. Sort of like adding weight to a speaker. The weight limits the non-essential parts from vibrating and stealing energy. Made here in the USA. Do your research and you'll be surprised where some of these trumpets are made. Better sound, less repairs, greater longevity and resale value are all here. Don't slight yourself on something that you may have for decades.

Great Horn! Features not found on "Vintage One"

Comments about 52BSP CONNstellation Series Bb Trumpet:

I have had this horn now for over 3 years. I have found that once you have broken it in, you will find that the sound is darker than most trumpets. I have had both a Bach and a Yamaha and none match the quality of the Conn. The valve action is first rate. It was interesting that the Vintage One did not have both the reverse lead pipe nor the rounded main tuning slide that other compainies do offer at a additional cost, whereas the Conn comes standard. The weighted bottom valve caps are a plus to get the darker sound. If you are looking for a cornet sound but want to play trumpet, "Conn Connstellation" is the horn to buy.

    Great horn!

Comments about 52BSP CONNstellation Series Bb Trumpet:

Great horn, Heavy, but powerful. Very nicely designed. Bell engraving is very "classic". The heavy caps do make it sound darker, much like the older Constellation models, with out the caps it is brighter. Excellent projection. The case could of been designed a bit better, it fits a bit tight, especially with a "heavy mouthpiece in it's holder. It cost less when I purchased it, but definitely worth the price you pay. WWBW delivered the horn in a very efficient and timely manner. I highly recommend them.

Comments about 52BSP CONNstellation Series Bb Trumpet:

I have used this trumpet for three years now. It is amazing for jazz the range is fantastic. It is also built well for an orchestral sound. With the modular weight system the tone really darkens for the more classical pieces you are bound to play.

Comments about 52BSP CONNstellation Series Bb Trumpet:

This is the perfect trumpet for a student to move up to. I have braces and it makes my tone sound 100% better than it does on my other trumpet. It makes playing the upper register so much easier, and intonation is not a problem. I am in my school's marching band and it easily responds to the amount of air that you want to travel through it, and it is just as heavy as any other trumpet. I highly recommend it.

Comments about 52BSP CONNstellation Series Bb Trumpet:

Positives: This trumpet sound beautiful, easy to play with excellent range. UMI is building much better instruments. The engraving is very tasteful. Negative: The case looks cheap and it is not practical . The trumpet fits too tight and there is no storage space, not even for small mute. I do not count the case in my rating. This is a heavy trumpet. Conclusion: BEST BUY
