Made of American maple and stained in a rich, dark brown, the Classic Goodtime Two plectrum banjo has the features required by those who love to play in the flat-picking Dixieland style or who love melodic finger picking. With the traditional planetary tuners, side dots, and the Deering peghead shape, this lightweight Goodtime Two plectrum banjo has a warm and vibrant voice with good volume thanks to the resonator. Traditionally tuned D,B,G,C, the banjo can also be tuned like the last 4 strings on a guitar (D,G,B,E) which makes it a perfect cross-over instrument for the guitar playing musician. Carrying features on banjos with a much higher price, the Classic Goodtime Two plectrum banjo is crafted with not only a beautiful aesthetic but a "classic³ sound.
The Classic Goodtime 2 plectrum banjo has a maple neck and resonator that is stained with a rich brown stain and satin finish. The three ply violin maple rim is similar to rims in Deering's professional banjos. The planetary tuners are smooth and accurate. The tailpiece and coordinator rod are made of "quiet metal" so the tone of the wood rings clearly without interference. The rock maple neck contributes to the brightness of the banjo tone and is strong and stable. The tuning of the plectrum banjo is C, G, B, D from low string to high string. Some players like the "Chicago tuning" which is the same as the first four strings of the guitar which is D, G, B, E from low string to high string. This allows guitar players to play guitar chords and fingering the same scales.
