Excellent Mellophone for High School Marching Band

The horn has great tuning accuracy, unlike other mellophones. It has a rich, french horn sound that almost imitates that of a concert horn. The horn will play notes below and above the staff without losing tone quality. It is relatively lightweight and easy to carry. With a mouthpiece adapter, you can use a french horn mouthpiece if you wish. I have no regrets of owning this mellophone. So, LOOK NO FURTHER!!!

very good just one flaw

This is a very good instrument,. The intonation is good and it gives off a big sound. The only flaw iI have found in this instrument is the placement of the mouthpipe bracket. Since it is just off the end the leadpipe, it isn't hard to bend and if the tip is broken off you would have to pay for a brand new leadpip.

Great F Mellophone

When the Drum Corps I march with switched to Bb, I knew I would miss my G Bugle. In high school I had played a vintage Olds, newer Yamaha and a Bach Mercedes and liked both, however neither matched the quality I could out of a Deg or Kanstul bugle. However upon getting used to a F Mello again, I fell in love with it. The intonation is improved over others I have played, and it does not have the stuffiness I have experienced with Yamahas in the E-F-G, top of the staff area. I fine instrument. My one hope for future models is that they make the silver plating more durable in heavy wear areas because it seemed to thin in spots after a year.
