Comments about ESP LTD TE-407 7-String Electric Guitar:

When ESP announced this guitar at Namm I was pretty excited as I had always wanted an affordable 7 string Telecaster since I first got into playing 7 strings and was surprised that they listened. I recently have had ample time playing one and each time I pick it up I find myself falling further and further in love with this guitar. I was a little wary originally given that I have a preference for 24 fret guitars and have never been a fan of flat black guitars but the pictures really do not do this guitar justice. The extremely good things about this guitar are the overall weight and balance and feel. The neck is extremely comfortable. Not too thin and not too wide. It really does not take any time to get accustomed to and it really fit snugly in my hand. The belly cut off the back and the bevel on the heel are a staple in ESP's lineup but add to the overall comfortable feel this guitar offers. I was also highly impressed with the bridge and tuners. The stock tuners are Grover and have always done well by me. The bridge is styled like a hipshot and is super smooth. This guitar came stock with really low action from the factory but does not require any additional setup. Some ERG guys will want to change out the string gauge as if you do not have a great right hand technique the low string can feel floppy and give you some unwanted noise. Additionally I was really impressed with the sound quality of the pickups. I have been turned off by actives before but somehow in this guitar they really work. all the crunch and clarity I could ever want is on tap. As for the cosmetics this guitar looks stunning in flat black. I have owned other satin guitars as well and had to clean them constantly to keep off grime and finger prints. This guitar however has stayed pretty clean even with a few solid hours of play on it I do not see the finish getting mucked up. Keep in mind it will be easier to scratch!! One thing that isn't called out but is kind of cool is that the body has black binding as well. As a whole thoroughly impressed and I feel that ESP will be one of my go to choices in the future.
