OVERVIEW

The legendary Epiphone archtop joins the Blue Royale Family.

Epiphone presents the Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale debuting in an exclusive Chicago Blue Pearl color finish along with distinctive Royale-style Silver Sparkle binding. It features superb Epiphone pickups and electronics along with the rock-solid hardware you've come to expect from Epiphone.

The Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale features the timeless Wildkat profile made from mahogany with a maple top and classic Epiphone styled f-holes. The glued-in hard maple neck is hand-set and has a fast and comfortable SlimTaper D-profile with a 24.75 scale and a 12 radius. The neck has a beautiful rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.

The truss rod cover (2-layer black and white) is matched to a classic '60s-era "E" logo for Epiphone. The Sloped Dovewing headstock has a vintage-style Epiphone metal badge. The body has Royale-style Silver Sparkle binding on the front and single-layer Silver Sparkle binding on the neck.

The Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale is powered by Epiphone-designed P-90 Dogear Classic pickups. P-90 pickups are the world's best single-coil pickups and are made from Alnico magnets with precise articulation for leads and rock-and-roll growl for power chords and rhythm. The neck has an Epiphone Alnico P-90R while the bridge position has a slightly overwound Alnico P-90T for leads.

Each pickup is activated via an Epiphone 3-way toggle switch for rhythm, lead, and a standard middle position for both pickups. Controls include Master Volume, Master Tone, and individual volume controls for each pickup with black Top Hat knobs with metal inserts.

The Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale comes with a time-tested Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and Bigsby B70 Vibrato tailpiece combined with Grover Rotomatic machine heads and an 18:1 tuning ratio for precise intonation and rock solid tuning. Each Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale is set up at the Epiphone factory with the world's finest strings from D'Addario in a 10-46 (light) gauge.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Blue Royale Electric Guitar:

This is my 4th Wildkat Royale. Fit & finish is flawless The quality on this one is as good as my other three.

From my experience with Epiphone, they have really stepped up their quality control. I have seen much fewer flaws slip through on my recent purchases than I have in the past. One thing that has really impressed me is that with the last two purchases I made, the set up on both guitars have been spot on. For me, string height was perfect, intonation was dialed in perfectly & the nuts were actually cut and filed very well, no hang ups or rough edges. Even the frets were dressed very well.

The only thing that I have noticed..... I have both the Swingster Royale & Wildkat Royale in the blue.... There is a very noticeable difference in the actual color of these guitars. There is a difference of at least 3 shades in the blue. I am not sure which guitar has the "correct" color. The paint on both is flawless & both colors of blue are actually very appealing... just... different shades.... So, just a heads up if that is something that would matter to you.

And of course... my only complaint.... no roller bridge.... which is easily remedied.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Blue Royale Electric Guitar:

This is really a Great guitar. I was looking for something different, something that I didn't have. A semi hollow with P90's and a Bigsby and, a beautiful color! I had to do a little setup, the normal stuff I always do with any guitar that I own, action, a litttle truss rod tweak, slight adjustment of pickup screws, intonation was perfect, stretched the new strings a few times with retuning and, that was it. Play time! The only way I could get this guitar out of tune was to work at it. Normal playing with string bending and subtle use of the Bigsby which is the way it was meant to be used yeilded Great results and, no tuning issues. The Bigsby is meant to be used like the vibrato on the Fender Jazzmaster and Jaguar (subtle) If you're a divebomber with a vibrato get something with a Floyd Rose and, go from there. The P90's definately have a different sound than Humbuckers that's what makes them what they are. If you experience a hum or 60 cycle buzz, be sure your amp is plugged into a grounded receptacle, It does make a difference. Nice feel, Good balance, Vintage sound, these Royale Wildkats are superior made guitars. Highly recommend one if you're looking for that something different guitar. The pic that I posted looks Great but, in person it's stunning!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Blue Royale Electric Guitar:

Love it! I've told friends my Widldkat is so nice, it almost plays itself! I love the feel and it is for more versatile than I would have ever imagined. Excellent tone, solid electronics, comfortable neck, and lightweight body. I also love the look - I've wanted a Wildkat since I was a kid and I'm so glad I decided to buy.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Blue Royale Electric Guitar:

I like the guitar overall. However it won't stay in tune. I even replaced the bridge and saddles with roller saddles. Still won't stay in tune. I had one of the first models of WildKat when they first came out. I had the exact same issues with that and eventually sold it. I was hoping now, years later that problem would have been eliminated. It hasn't. I have to check the tuning after every song.....
