The two basses that put Music Man on the map and made them serious competition for the legendary premier American electric string instrument brands were the StingRay and the Sabre. The Classic Sabre is a faithful reproduction of the original Sabre design, along with some improvements in manufacturing consistency and electronics manufacture and shielding. It is a magnificent professional quality electric bass guitar.
This particular one is a special issue with an all-rosewood neck (most are issued in maple). It likewise has a rosewood fretboard. Music Man is all about stout and hearty construction, and the Classic Sabre participates in that tradition. Notice the covered humbuckers, an immediately discernable departure from the original. It is equipped with a 5-way switch that lets you solo the bridge pickup, use the bridge with the bridge-side coil of the neck pickup only, use all coils of each pickup, solo just the coil of the neck pickup closest to the bridge, or solo the neck pickup. Lots of tones, especially when you consider the 2-way active EQ.
