OVERVIEW

The Blues Jr. pushed through a 12" Jensen speaker.

The Blues Jr. NOS takes Fender's 15W gem and gives it the true vintage treatment with tweed covering and a vintage-style 12" Jensen speaker. Its power is generated by an all-tube signal path using a pair of EL84 Groove Tube output tubes and 3 - 12AX7 preamp tubes. Add renowned Fender reverb, flexible controls, and footswitchable (with optional footswitch - product #420703) FAT circuit for golden tones, and you're in business. And just look at that chrome panel, that tweed finish with pinstripe grille cloth, and those vintage pointer knobs!

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

This is a great sounding amp for Fender cleans, classic rock, blues and even jazz, depending on the volume level you need. I'm using it for recording, with a variety of guitars ranging from a Strat with single coils to a hollowbody jazz box with humbuckers, and two Les Pauls, one with P-90s and one with humbuckers. Some say this amp is too bright, but I like the brightness with the humbucker/mahogany guitars and for the Strat I simply roll off some of the treble. It also sounds great with steel guitars, and I can get everything from a clean country sound to a dirty overdrive without any pedals. Add an overdrive pedal and you can get loads of sustain and tonal options. There are some drawbacks, like the lack of an effects loop or second channel, which might be handy if you were performing live. Some of the components used are a bit flimsy, like the input jack and pots. I've taken a star off my review because the quality control is spotty. It took me three tries to get one that was built correctly and functioning well, but that is not unusual these days. WWBW was great in handling the exchanges and making sure I was satisfied. Overall a great little amp that's fairly lightweight and sounds good.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

The tweed covering looks so much better than any other. Has a vintage vibe and the tone is excellent. Sounds great with any guitar, but I like it best with a Tele. Controls are easy to use, and the amp is loud for only 15 watts. I play this one more than my other more expensive amps. Great clean tones and nice overdrive. Perfect for playing at home or small gigs.

Fender Blues Tone!

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

I read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos on this Fender NOS Blues Jr. lacquered tweed tube amp before making my decision. I had to wait about a month as it was out of stock. This NOS version is a special issue for the big 3 online retailers and has the upgraded lacquered tweed/Jensen C12K (ceramic) speaker made in Italy. It arrived promptly but in non-working order after making sure the cold tubes were seated correctly with a soft cloth and after ample warm up time. It also did not have a lot of lacquer if any on the tweed. The tubes were probably damaged in transit or maybe they weren't biased correctly at the factory but WWBW was good to get a prompt replacement in the mail. The replacement looked like it had a good coat(s) of lacquer on it and sounds delicious! This amp is good for bedroom practicing and small gigs. Great for blues; Fender clean as well as some nice overdriven SRV, Neil Young tones at lower dB's. A lot of clean headroom but if you crank the volume and lower the master (+FAT) you get some real nice dirt. Chicken head dials are nicely touch sensitive. Sounds awesome with a Strat. Lots of fun experimenting with the many different varieties of tone and with so few dials. I'm in love with it; the thing sounds and looks awesome! I'm thinking about getting another one because I would like a back up and who knows how long these will be around. I think it's an excellent value for the money, call it a poor man's '57 Deluxe Tweed RI. Some people modify the standard Blues Jr. but I don't think this one needs any mods at all. I would however be curious to compare the speaker to the alnico Jensen P12Q/N or Celestion blue but I digress. Here's my advice: wait until I get my second one and then go ahead and buy two of these amp's because they sound and look absolutely amazing. If you are into blues or want fender clean tones with classic styling without blowing down the barn, get this amp!
