OVERVIEW

A fully loaded bass that's dynamic enough for any style from the legendary Leo Fender.

Three decades ago, the G&L L-2000 bass served notice that company founder Leo Fender  was ready to disrupt the status quo. The bold, brash L-2000 has always been an exhilarating experience for players with the skill to pull it off. Now the new M-2000 and M-2500 harness that power with a sonic palate that will surprise and delight new and die-hard G&L fans alike.

Leos MFD humbuckers have always been the heart of the iconic L-Series. In the all-new M-Series, these powerhouses are voiced to fully exploit a studio-quality 18v preamp system specially designed by G&Ls R&D wizard Paul Gagon. With an LF442 chip, 100v poly caps, 1% metal film resistors and big, fat signal traces on the mil-spec circuit board, this preamp reveals everything the player and the instrument have to offer.

And theres even more:
¢ Primary volume and pan controls to explore the full range of sounds available between the two pickups
¢ 3-band EQ with peripherally placed, center-detent, reduced-diameter knobs
¢ An impeccable, familiar œfeel of the instrument in the hands and on the shoulder
¢ The return of the classic œC-shape 1 5/8 neck, discontinued by G&L in the 1980s

For slapping, rolling back some highs and dialing up some lows, coupled with a mid-range boost, magnifies the intensity that Leos humbuckers are famous for. Need more definition for fingerstyle? Just bring up the treble and roll off the bass for a nuanced and detailed sound. Headroom? The new M-Series preamp harnesses the power of those meaty MFD humbuckers without a hint of clipping. The best tools are simple, intuitive and easy to use, and thats exactly what youll find in the new M-Series package.

Comments about G&L Tribute M2000 GTB 4-String Electric Bass:

I was dissapointed in the craftsmanship of this bass. The neck feels gritty, as if it was unfinished. There is excessive fret buzz. One of the control knobs binds, another one is crooked, and the volume and pick-up knobs appear to be too small as compared to what is advertised. I like the tone and the pick-ups, which is why I'm keeping it, but I expected a much nicer bass for the $$$.

Comments about G&L Tribute M2000 GTB 4-String Electric Bass:

My personal experience with the G & L M-2000 is a positive one. I own over 40 basses and appreciate all the different characteristics and vibes of them all but still searched for what would be my main axe. Years ago a friend turned me on to a G & L SB 2 which I really liked and that started my quest for the ultimate model. Bought the JB 2 and loved it. Discovered the L 2000 and couldn't believe the quality of tone and feel it offered. I only wished it had a simpler control layout rather than using the tiny toggle switch arrangement that it presented. Then I discovered the Tribute M-2000 bass and was floored. Contrary to the other reviewers experience, my bass arrived in perfect working order and the fit and finish was amazing. Gloss white with a matching headstock and rosewood fretboard. Exquisite to say the least. Now I had to have a back up and purchased a black M-2000 with a maple fretboard. The neck on this one did come with a thinner finish but not at all too rough as described by other reviewer. Bottom line is I am a proud owner and my search is over. These are my go to's and the only upgrade will be to buy a US model, though I wonder if I could tell them apart.
