Definitely would buy

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I played a 60s vintage Getzen Eterna w/shepherds crook with symphonic band in college. It was a superior to the Conn 36B I had at the time and was more than used for band. I played juries and everything on it, and was impressed. Great valves, good cornet sounds and easily transitioning through the ranges. If they still make this horn it is a great horn for the up and comer or someone at the college level that is more comfortable with the cornet.

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I've been playing about 20 years. Purchased this Cornet (with copper bell) about 4 years ago. Never played it that much until about a year ago. The guys and gals in the group remarked how smooth and mellow the sound is. So many of my fellow musicians (in other groups) have complimented the sound that this horn produces. The workmanship is first class and the piston are truly the greatest. Am considering buying another one (same model and style). Getzen, you have made a great horn!!!

MORE AND MORE THE HORN OF CHOICE

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I've owned the Eterna for about a year. When it first arrived, I was immediately impressed with hornes' appearance and the excellent valve action. Prior to getting this cornet, I only owned and only played trumpets. I own a Yamaha Xeno trumpet. After splitting time between the two horns, the Eterna, together with a Megatone mouthpiece, has become my horn of choice. The dark, beautiful tones and high and low ranges are truly impressive to me (the player) and to the audiences I play for. Also, I have not experienced any more water retention than any previous instrument I've owned. I have become a convert of the cornet sound. GETZEN, THIS IS A GREAT INSTRUMENT!! I LOOK FORWARD TO CHECKING YOUR TRUMPETS!!

A very impressive instrument

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

The Getzen Eterna cornet is an absolutely rock-solid instrument; well made with a nice heft to it; pristine silver plating; case is well designed (I particularly like the storage section for music); the Getzen valves, of course, are FLAWLESS. I get a really deep, rich tone with this axe, and some of my my fellow band-mates in a British Brass Band that I play in, were blown away by the sound. I highly recommend this instrument and am looking forward to doing some really serious playing with it for a long, long time.

You can't do better at any price

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I bought the 800S in the fall of 2001, after having test played every Bb cornet then offered. It was hands-down the best of them all. Whether you are playing bel canto, cornet solos or hot dixieland jazz, the horn responds, and plays in tune. It's well-balanced, and just feels "right" when you pick it up. The low register can't be beat. If you're playing 2d or 3rd cornet in a brass band, this horn will help your part be heard, without a lot of work on your part.

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I all ready have a Getzen Bb Cornet, not a large bore, but I expect to buy a Large Bore first in the new year. But I feel that Getzen is the best Cornet I've ever played on, and I've been playing Cornets/Trumpets of many brands during the last 42 years - and I am 51 year old for the moment.

Great value

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

Got my Getzen Eterna Cornet about one month ago. Workmanship, valves, finish and overall construction excellent. Key are flawless and more quiet than my Bach Strad. I was disappointed with the sound, only because it sounded more like my Strad than like the sweet, dark and mellow cornet I was expecting. That was when I used the 7C that came with it. I ordered a Yamaha 14E and the sound was more of what I was expecting in a cornet: mellow, darker, favoring the lower register. The mouthpiece did make a difference. All I play is my Strad and the Getzen. I like each the same, but for different reasons. I want the different sound which I now have. The cornet is a little more comfortable as it is nearer to you and leaves more room between the bell of the horn and the music. I can find no faults with it. Someone wrote it is a spit collector. I have not noticed this in my horn. The case is sturdy, solid. A very good value for the price.

Great intonation, nimble and a sweet sound!

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

I've played this horn for 2 years now, primarily in a Dixieland Jazz Band and Marching/Concert Bands and on occasion for Broadway Musicals. It is a nimble horn with Great Intonation & a Sweet Sound. However, it is a spit-collector. The Amado water keys don't do the job- especially on the tuning slide. I am constantly pulling the tuning slide out to empty. The horn's tuning slide configuration being mounted so low on the horn and being the same size as a conventional 3rd valve slide may be a contributing factor.

Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:

Just received my Getzen Eterna 800 series cornet with the gorgeous gold brass bell and it is everything that I could ask for and more. The valves are fantastic in keeping with the Getzen name. Everything is perfect, the construction and the finish. It blows freely and sound great from the bottom to the top of its range. It puts Bach and the others to shame, and for much less money.
