Comments about Giardinelli GBS-300 Baritone Saxophone:

Don't get me wrong, this is a good horn, but there's definitely things that aren't right about it. To begin, the octave mechanism was non functional out of the box. The octave lever was made too long, so it was mashed in to the point where it wouldn't move freely. Then the spring on the octave mechanism wasn't even hooked on, and when I did get it hooked on it wasn't strong enough due to the octave lever being mashed in between the posts. The palm keys were leaking so bad that I couldn't make any solid tone from the horn. I would not recommend the stock mouthpiece to anybody. Get a good quality mouthpiece because the tone it produces is thin and it has less than desirable response and intonation.

After correcting these problems, the horn plays great! It's a great step up from that old Bundy I had to play on for a while. If you so choose to purchase this horn, I would strongly recommend taking it to a tech to look it over and make sure there wasn't any manufacturing defects like mine had.
