Biting P-90s on a vintage body.
The Les Paul Special with P-90s is an excellent rock guitar at a very attractive price. Basic, straightforward and ready to rock hard. Two classic P-90 pickups are loaded into a solid mahogany body for pure Gibson power. Mahogany set neck with baked maple fingerboard and nitro lacquer finish, naturally, for pure Gibson Tone!
The two-pickup Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, positioned between the low-cost Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul. It was originally available only in a single-cutaway, TV-style limed mahogany finish. A double-cutaway Special and cherry red finish option were introduced in 1959. The Les Paul Special made the virtues of the Les Paul available to those who couldn't quite afford the Standard or Custom versions. And it still has all the essential features.
Two P-90 single-coil pickups produce the raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock and roll in their formative years. Today, the P90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite among many top musicians.

there's no doubt that Gibson is producing the highest quality instrument in their long, wonderful existence. The Les Paul Jr with P-90 pickups is an amazing workhorse of an instrument. The sound is balance and powerful. These are single coil pickups and they have character beyond that of other single coils. The mahogany bodies creates a warm and balance sound that is a reminder of what the early rockers produced in the 50's and 60's. The Gibson hardware is solid and every detail of the guitar is addressed with careful precision. I like the look of the bound neck. The frets are placed in perfect position too. Gibson uses the Kluson style tuners on this instrument and this also adds to the vintage look of the guitar. you've got to try this thing. you'll be so glad you did. rock on.
