I play these reeds on tenor, I think they're real good stuff. I picked some up a couple months ago, 3 1/4, and I thought they were very consistent with a dark focused sound. They may have a slight tendency to warp at first (which can be fixed with a little sand paper) but after like 3 days they are very constant, and will play for a long time. I just bought a box of 3 1/2 and I'm still playing on the first reed after about 2 weeks (played right out of the box), which is pretty impressive by my standards (and it shows no sign of wearing out). I find they are a good match with my metal 7* Otto link mouthpiece, but I tend to play on a slightly more resistant setup. If I have one complaint, it is that the low end might be slightly harder to play soft in than, say, a Vandoren v16, but at the same time I think they are slightly more stiff in general than v16s. Basically, I think the tonal quality of these reeds surpass all others I have come across.

After moving from Tenor to Alto, I decided to move away from traditional Vandorens and try a new brand of reeds. I played GonzalezÆs for nearly six months, and they seemed to be doing well, playing cleanly and projecting well. However, the reed I was using broke at an inopportune moment, and I ended up trying a Vandoren Java. I was immediately blown away by how much changing brands cleaned up my minor tuning issues and polished my tone in a way that I had been trying for months. Don't discard these offhand, they do play well. However, I don't think they're the best on the market.

The Best Sax Reeds

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I have not used these sax reeds long, but I love them! I actually started on Gonzalez reeds on clarinet. I ran out of my beginner sax reeds, and from a great experience from my clarinet reeds, I got Gonzalez again for sax. I couldn't have made a better choice. No matter what kind sax or clarinet you buy Gonzalez reeds for, they are extremely versatile. On my clarinet, I can be playing legit classical, and then start rockin' out on some hot jazz. Same with the sax. Buy these reeds. Whatever kind of music you play, these will not disapoint you.

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I love Gonzalez Reeds. The cane is of the highest quality and they are extremely consistent. The quarter-grading system makes a large difference. The feel, response and sound are all fantastic, just perfect. Even the packaging is a work of art. Nothing else comes close. Viva Gonzalez!

A revelation!

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

The percentage of well-playing reeds per box is amazingly high when compared to Vandoren, whose reeds almost without fail require adjustment. The use of quarter sizes is also important to note. I love Gonzalez reeds and find that they are also extremely long lasting when properly rotated!

Good product

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I am saxophone player and have had problems with getting other reeds to co-operate with my amount of playing and the amount of air tore them up. Then a fellow sax player recommended (these) reeds. So I ordered some and they were amazing. They have such a warm clean sound from low Bb to altissimo!!

Yet Another Positive Review

By

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I have played on the blue box Vandorens for most of my musical life because they're the standard. I have been playing of these reeds for a few months now and have to say that they blow Vandoren's reeds out of the water. Almost every single reed in the box plays smoothly. I find them so much more versatile and free blowing than the Vandorens. The .25 increases in reed strength are also great too, allowing you to find just the right size for you. And last but not least, THEYÆRE CHEAPER! Another Positive Review Added to an already long list.

Great reeds

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I have been using these reeds for a while now and they're great! The cut, quality, and consistancy of the reeds are what you should look for. I find that the 3.5s work better on a C* but the 3.75 are my favorite on a Caravan Mouth piece.

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I absolutely love these reeds. I bought 3.25 and 3. Both are wonderful. The quality is much higher than any Vandoren reed, or any other reed for that matter. After a good break-in, they respond beautifully.

Alto reed consistency

Comments about Gonzalez Alto Saxophone Reeds:

Really impressed with the quality of the Gonzales reeds. I have played many different reeds over the past 60 years and the Gonzales rate with the best of them . I have tried 4 0ut of the box and none needed extra braking in. I use a # 2 with an SJ8 rousseau mouthpiece and am delighted to find a reed I can stick to.

I have been playing for many years, and the majority of those years I spent playing Vandoren blue boxes, and believing they were the best product on the market.
