OVERVIEW

An affordable 12-striing with great tone throughout and the good looks to match with Fishman electronics.

Guild 12-strings have been popular since they were first introduced in 1964, prized for their full tone and easy playability. The classic, jangly sound associated with Guild 12-strings provides players with a unique voice that can only come from a Guild guitar.

Built with solid African mahogany top, back and sides, the D-1212E is a dreadnought sized 12-string, featuring an Indian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, NuBone nut and saddle, mother-of-pearl rosette, and period-correct tortoiseshell pickguard. A powerful Fishman Sonitone pickup and volume/tone controls allow for full expert amplification. A mother-of-pearl rosette and Guild' iconic Chesterfield headstock emblem reminiscent of 1960s models complete the package.

The D-1212E includes Guild' new lightweight polyfoam case and is available in Natural gloss finish.

    Comments about Guild D-1212E 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is beautiful - in both appearance and sound. It made the rounds of my guitar group and all players -experienced and beginner- pronounced it easy to play and easy to listen to. My only comment to potential buyers is that it is more beautiful than shown in many of the website pictures. I think that the photographers must use flash and the color comes out much more orange and lighter colored than the real guitar. The wood is darker and richer looking than it appears. Great guitar at a great price.

        Comments about Guild D-1212E 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a real beauty to behold and is full of expression and tonal texture that in the right hands can create shimmering sounds. The build is solid from top to bottom. Comes with a great soft case. This great instrument gets my highest recommendation.

          Comments about Guild D-1212E 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for over 45 years and have played and owned a lot of guitars over the years. This D-1212E has the most amazing sound I've ever heard on a 12 string guitar. Perfect balance of highs and lows and not over jangly like most 12 strings. The bass notes are there when called for but never muddy. Booms when you need it to, but also softens to a mellow blend of rich harmonics. It took 40 years to find the perfect 12 string sound but it was worth the wait.
Construction and finish are flawless. It came with action that was totally acceptable, but I did lower the action just a bit to make it perfect for me. The wood is so much more beautiful than the picture!

            Comments about Guild D-1212E 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have bought this guitar recently, and most importantly I have to say it is way more beautiful than on all the photos available on the internet. It has a nice, warm, dark and noble color and is produced, as it seems, very carefully. Even though it is Chinese made, I was not able to detect any flaws in the finish or things like that. It looks just downright perfect, especially keeping also the mother of pearl inlays and rosette in mind.

Moreover, it also sounds great. It has a nice, full and rich tone which I have not found in any other 12-string I have played when trying to find "my" guitar. The models of Taylor and Martin at a comparable price sound way flatter, and also look and feel a lot cheaper. The all solid tonewoods are, as mentioned above, not only just beautiful, but also have a genuine sound. I have not hada guitar in this price segment before but I really have to state that this is probably the best sounding guitar I have ever laid my hands on.

Besides, the guitar is also very easy to play. It almost took me no time to get used to the extra strings and slightly broader neck than usual. Of course, at the beginning you might feel your fingers getting tired at some point, but I think that is just natural. At the end, it almost feels as natural as a six string to me.

Summarizing, I would definitely recommend to try this guitar and eventually step away from Taylor and Martin in this case. I think you get the most value (and sound, and looks) for money here.
