Excellent Stand Could Be Improved

Comments about Hamilton KB960 Alto or Tenor Saxophone Stand:

This stand is great. It works well, looks good, and is well made. However, the legs only fold straight down, making the taken-down stand a long, awkward package to try and manage. A re-design could work so the legs fold up alongside the main shaft, which would make for a much easier to manage package when not in use.

light, sturdy, stable, folds up well

Comments about Hamilton KB960 Alto or Tenor Saxophone Stand:

The "height adjustment" isn't, really. The smaller lower padded fork can be removed by loosening a wing nut, and put in the upper hole (for an alto) or the lower hole (for a tenor). The upper padded fork supports the rim of the bell and doesn't move. Loosening a big thumbscrew in the base releases the vertical tube (the one with the two forks attached) and the three legs fold down. The clarinet peg unscrews easily by hand. Disassembled, the whole thing fits in the accessory compartment of a tenor sax (or at least of mine, a typical Leblanc hard case for a Vito tenor), leaving plenty of room for small stuff - your pull-thrus, cork grease, reeds, neck strap, and part of your mouthpiece collection. The stand may not fit in more compact cases, and I don't know about alto cases. The clarinet stand works fine. The photo shows the peg at a weird angle, but the instrument seems to sit more closely to vertical than the photo suggests. Construction of the stand is light but seems more than adequate to support a tenor sax. Stability is very good. I use it at home, where there are no drunk people staggering around; how it would do the job on a crowded stage I can't say.
