Comments about Hofner Ignition Series Violin Electric Guitar:

I saw and played two of these in a GC and the were on clearance. But that was not good enough to drop 3 bills for them. They felt like toys, cheap and fragile. This is actually the same feel I have from my Hofner cheapo bass. I also own a Violin epiphone and an even cheaper Rogue violin bass which is much better made with a ballsy feel to it.. I thought of this for a collection piece and than thought better not. I will probably sell the Hofner bass version of this as well. Caveat emptor

More Than Just a Funky Style

Comments about Hofner Ignition Series Violin Electric Guitar:

Great sounding and surprisingly versatile. You can definitely hear vestiges of the classic Hofner basses behind the low E with the tone rolled off a bit, but it's got a world of sound inside its five pound body. Mini-humbuckers don't give you anything you couldn't get anywhere else, but they sound just about perfect through a low-wattage Marshall.

One of the few guitars I've picked up at this price point whose tone knob actually functions as intended, plenty of range and sweet sounds all around the dial. Bridge is what it is, classic free-roaming Hofner; I had to flip it around to get it intonated properly, but otherwise you can get a great setup out of it.

Tuners are the weakest point, they don't turn very evenly and have an extremely cheap feel, but at least they look alright. It doesn't seem to pop out of tune with moderate bending, but I haven't had it all that long.

Well worth the price of admission, would probably serve a jazzy or bluesy player best but, like I said, it's got a lot of different tones under the hood. I bought it pretty much purely because of its appearance - I'd never even played a Hofner that wasn't a bass before - and I could definitely recommend it.

Hey, you can even play it unplugged and it doesn't sound that bad, and that's gotta be worth something, right?

Comments about Hofner Ignition Series Violin Electric Guitar:

I just had to have this after seeing Paul McCartney in concert. Am no regretting the decision. The guitar sounds great, takes pedals well and is not a burden for those long jam sessions/gigs.

Found one in cherry red on closeout at guitar center.
Plays and sound great and easily crunches a tube amp
Hardware is a bit lightweight but so what at this price?
I have much more expensive guitars but I often grab this because it is so light and comfortable

Comments about Hofner Ignition Series Violin Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my bandmate for his birthday a couple months back. I was skeptical about how good it was but he wanted it so I shrugged my shoulders and bought it for him. I did not expect what he has been able to do with it. There's a lot of accessible tones hidden within it. It's been mainly played through two different Peavy amps and it sounds great. I've heard pure cleans, light crunch, and even a classic metal tone from it. Probably not worth the five hundred but jump on it if there's a sale going on.
