Comments about Ibanez S5527 Prestige S Series 7 String Electric Guitar:

I'm using this guitar in a tech/melodic death metal band. It plays amazing with very low action throughout the neck. Incredible sustain that you wouldn't expect from such a thin body. Stock pickups are a little hot for being passive and lose some definition because of it. I'd suggest SDs or even dimarzzios like they equip Iron Label S-series with. Also plan on eliminating tone knob and trading places with the volume.

Also, don't pay attention to that goober's review about his "vibrato unit" not being shipped in tune. It was shipped to Minnesota, the altitude changes in transit could have damaged the guitar if it was tuned up. There's also great tutorials on how to restring and adjust tremolo systems so don't let that discourage you from getting one. It will suck if you break a string during a live performance, that's the point where you give up music and send it back to Musicians Friend. Thanks for the open box discount on this rockin guitar!!

Comments about Ibanez S5527 Prestige S Series 7 String Electric Guitar:

I mulled over picking up this Ibanez for a while, I have a few bands and one is a metal band that plays in C standard tuning. Playing with heavier strings on my 2011 LP Standard Plus to accommodate the lower tunings was leaving the sustain flat. Notes were dropping and the LP didn't sing like usual, hard to play solos like I was used to. I have always wanted the S body since they came out oh so many years ago, was very trepidatious about going to a 7 string for just the sanity factor, but I have not been disappointed. Very happy that I paid the extra cheese for the prestige line. I play mostly custom strat style guitars, made just for me, but I have NEVER, picked up a guitar for the first time and fell in love that fast. Even with the LP. Haven't played a floating tremolo for 20 years, and this one needed about 5 minutes of setup, just a tension balance on the springs, Intonation was spot on, action unbelievable. I haven't been able to put it down for a month, I couldn't actually, I had to learn all the tunes again in first position!!! SO MUCH FUN to play, harmonics, artificial harmonics, speed, sustain, and all the craziness of the floater, blown away by the luthiership over there in Japan. I wish I would have bought an IBANEZ Prestige a long time ago.

Comments about Ibanez S5527 Prestige S Series 7 String Electric Guitar:

The S series Ibanez I received was not packaged properly for shipping, one box containing the Ibanez in a great case. It was a beautiful looking guitar with one glaring flaw. The vibrato unit was not set up properly and was loose in it's placement on the guitar. A guitar of that price point and beauty should be packaged properly for shipping and come set up with a functioning vibrato. It had been handled by some careless person before shipping and I would have kept it had it been in a functioning state. I returned the S series and reordered a RG752WMFX hard tail that came packaged in the Ibanez case, and then two more boxes for protection. It was almost in A440 tuning when I first took it out or the case. Love the guitar and the quality is superb. Thanks Musician friend for your help with the return.
