I got this guitar with a gift card I was presented for the holidays. I waited in eager anticipation for it to arrive. I own a Jackson SLAT7 which goes new for 699.99 but liked the neck profile enough to warrant another cheaper Jackson buy and had parts laying around to swap out when it arrived. I read up on these quite a bit and they seemed to have gotten rave reviews. I expected a decent amount from this guitar but also was realistic with the price point I was buying into. When the guitar arrived I opened it up and it looked amazing! I tuned it up and began playing. The neck felt identical to my SLAT which was a huge plus as they were made in different factories. Unfortunately there were a few quality issues that have become apparent the longer I have had this instrument,

The nut was slotted filed pretty sloppy and is really cheap plastic. The fret ends were pretty sharp and there was a yellowish corrosion on the higher frets. (this came off with a a little 3000 grit sand paper while I was restringing.) For some reason the bridge was mounted with 3 black screws and 1 brass screw (not sure if the paint just came off one?) the bridge had a corner inside the baseplate that was either worn or rusted. Where the fret meets the fretboard on several high frets there is a noticeable gap or black line which appears to be in the wood. A tech friend looked at it and assessed it as the frets being installed improperly or not hammered in all the way though this does not affect play ability or sound somehow as the frets are not high or dead. The edges of the fretboard show tool marks and wear with small nicks.

THAT ALL BEING SAID, It plays awesome. I love it. It sounds good and plays well. Despite its many small flaws I still like it A LOT. I expected it to be bad but know a few luthiers to help with the problems I mentioned and expected. Its a mod platform for me so most of the hardware including the bridge will be swapped anyways. The frets will be leveled and filed.

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

First Seven String. Fifth guitar. Very pleased with appearance, weight, fit and finish, playability and tone. Stock pickups sound good to me. Great guitar for metal with 16 inch radius. Good string tension with 26 inch scale. Tuners feel a little less than high end but will certainly do for now. I just purchased a set of Gotoh tuners for my son's Ibanez 7 string and paid a lot more for it. As others have said, it's a bargain at this price.

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

If anyone is looking to get into 7-string guitars, or add one to the collection, this is a good place to start. At this price point I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was playable right out of the box, feels good to play, sounds good and even looks good. Solid guitar. Even if you don't like it, you have a solid modding platform.

One con I have is the tuners. I don't think it's bad enough knock a star because of the price, but they will be replaced eventually.

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

This thing is just.... WOW! Jackson could charge charge at least 500 this bad boy. I've been playing for about 7 years. I figured it was time to jump into 7-string guitars without breaking the bank since I figured I may not even like having the extra string. The only con was that the 7th string had some pretty bad rattling/buzz out of the box. But that's usual for any guitar being shipped, they'll always need a setup. I ordered Seymour Duncan Blackouts at the same time I ordered this with the intention of replacing the pickups immediately since I figured they'd be garbage being so cheap. I was wrong. The pickups were better than expected. I will probably still change them anyway cause I love Blackouts but the stock pickups are definitely not bad at all. I'll probably keep them for a backup 7-string in the future. Having an extra string takes getting used to of course but the neck still feels great. The maple is more pale than it looks in the pictures which I actually like. It contrasts the jet black body very nicely.

Love the look and feel of this guitar and for the price that it's at you can't beat it. The switch is kind of iffy and can create some static, but that seems to happen with a lot of them when they are shipped. Lack of padding in the package and lack of care from delivery company.

This just arrived at my doorstep today. I took it out of its boxes and inspected it for damage. I found none, but the first thing I noticed were some sharp edges on some of the frets. No big deal though. A little light sanding will take care of that. After tuning up and plugging in, I was blown away. It sounds so much better than any of my other guitars. Maybe it's just because this is my first new guitar in ten years, I don't know. But it sounded great, played very well, and looks good too.

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

If you're considering purchasing a seven string guitar, this is a steal. Jackson could have easily tacked on another fifty to one hundred for this instrument. It may be a budget guitar but it is absolutely incredible! Surprisingly, it stays in tune quite well and sounds great for the price. I bought this as a guitar for mods. I have installed a new bridge and two new pickups (with a camouflage finish). It now looks and sounds incredible! Don't second-guess this and make the purchase today. I can't say enough about this website as well. Purchase it here.

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for the money. The neck feels great and all frets are within easy access. My only complaints are that the fret ends were very sharp and the guitar came with completely loose strings. That being said, a set up with new strings and some filing of the fret ends made this guitar play great. During the set up, they had to shim the neck to set the pickup height correctly. It is not a $1k guitar, but for the money it is a great option. The pickups are pretty decent for bring stock as well. I would definitely recommend this 7 string over its competition after owning most of them.

I have been playing guitar for about 9 years now, and I play anything from jazz to death metal. This is my first seven string guitar, and I can honestly say that 7 strings are perfect for me, I absolutely love the feel of them and this one definitely feels great. Every time I am done playing it I find myself leaving it satisfied, I love the option of the 7 string to keep the rest of the guitar in standard and drop the 7th to A, I can play heavy and soft music in a mix and it is so perfect, if you are thinking of getting a seven string to see if you will like it BUY THIS!! You will not regret it, it is awesome especially for the money, 199?? You can't beat this at all, it feels like a 350-400 priced guitar, in my opinion. Jackson has outdone themselves on this guitar.

I ordered this guitar as an entry into seven string territory, and boy was it a good one for that. I've been playing it for over a year and the only fault I've had with it is because of me being stupid with the guitar, so as long as you're not stupid with it, you're golden. When I originally bought it, I intended to swap the pickups out, but in all honesty, I haven't wanted to after playing it. It just sounds that good, for so cheap too! Looks awesome and is a great guitar no matter your skill level

Comments about Jackson Special Edition JS22-7 DKA-M Dinky 7-String Electric Guitar:

This is a fun guitar. Price is great, and the guitar looks and plays really well.
The only con here are the tuners. I have had the guitar for two days now, and I am constantly having
to re-tune the thing. Once it is in tune though it is just a blast and looks good! The fret ends are smooth.
There was slight buzzing on the second fret, G string, but it went away after I raised one of the saddle adjustment screws. The pickups are decent but a tad muddy. I have already ordered the Nazgul for it, so that should take care of the mud.
Overall, a very good guitar for the low $$$.

Anger that plunks around on it. My guitarist friends love it for the price point. Get it on sale too! Has compound radius. The Ibanez does not ha e it.
