OVERVIEW

Designed to create a medium bright tone.

The DV Chicago model silver-plated metal tenor saxophone mouthpiece is the culmination of a quest by Jody Espina to make the most efficient saxophone mouthpiece that delivers the biggest, fullest sound. This mouthpiece comes iece comes with a Rico H-Ligature and Cap, and Deluxe Pouch.

The DV CHI produces a darker tone than the contemporary sound of the JodyJazz DV, but a considerably brighter and more modern tone than the JodyJazz DV NY. The beautifully shaped baffle/chamber design of the DV CHI produces a tone that is reminiscent of Dexter Gordon, but is quite at home in a contemporary situation.

Simply put, the DV CHI combines the best properties of the highly successful DV and DV NY series while adding several new design modifications which enhance the player's ability to manipulate their tone. The scalloped chamber also allows the player to push more air through the mouthpiece without experiencing any harshness.

Comments about JodyJazz DV CHI Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

This is multipurpose mouthpiece, versatile four different types of music.
It has nice fat low notes, can produce beautiful subtones but in the same time can scream like a real rocker successfully competeting with electric guitar with ease. It requires to find smaller, better firing ligature, which can be tightened proporly. The one it comes with doesn't work very well. If you are not big fan of old Otto Link mouthpieces, you may be not so much in love with this one as I am:)

Comments about JodyJazz DV CHI Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I played a Dukoff D7 for almost 30 years. The DV Chi gives me the sound I want with greater ability to play soft and hit low notes with confidence. The DV Chi also blends better for section playing in a Big Band. I Play a Selmer Mk 7 tenor and the DV Chi compliments the sound.

        • Perfect For Mark Vi

Comments about JodyJazz DV CHI Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I have heard other players praise the Jody Jazz mouthpieces, but was pretty happy with my Dave Guardala Studio until the tooth guard disintegrated. Having nothing to loose except a WWBW re-stock charge, I ordered this 7* blem and WOW! what a solid, tight and smooth response on my old Mark VI Tenor! I use Vandoren V-16 #3 reeds for a bright and aggressive edge, without the upper range shrillness of the Guardala Studio. I am so glad I waited for the DV CHI to come along!

Big sound with lots of control....

Comments about JodyJazz DV CHI Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I have played many good mouthpieces; Bergs, Dukoff, Guardala, Selmer etc and this DVCHI is a cut above all for me. I also have the DV and I can say without a doubt that both these mouthpieces give me the best control from bottom to altissimo on my Mark V1 and Mark V11. The CHI is a little fatter sound but the DV cuts through better in a loud Rock environment. I continue to play both. definitely 5 Stars!!
