Best Uses

We use these tubas for marching band and concert band. they sound good but with full playing students they over blow easliy. they would be perfect for a jr high program. We use Blessing mouthpeices and tone and tuning have been good. as mentioned the only thing we have noticed not to our liking is the fact it is so easy to over blow on this instrument.

A great tuba for it's price

I have had this tuba for about three years now, and the more I play it, the more I like it. Once I learned how to keep it level, I no longer had any problems with spit coming back into my mouth. I have also had the opportunity to use it in a concert situation, and I am very impressed by its deep, rich tone. If you are looking for a good tuba for your high-school band, or if you were like me and just wanted to get out of the sousaphone business, I very highly recommend this tuba. A word of advice here: if you're like me, and are used to playing sousaphones for years and years, then you would do very well to get yourself a left-shouldered model, then you will be used to the weight being on that shoulder. All in all, a very good tuba--just realize that you're not getting a Yamaha or a Miraphone for the price.
