Very high quality, but not meant for a large bell-front

Comments about K&M 14940 Tuba Stand:

This is a tight well-made stand. My Reynolds Contempora bell-front tuba is a little much for it though. I put a bungee cord between the uprights to keep it from falling over and have turned the tuba so that it is facing the wall because I do not trust the set up to keep it from falling over. I am sure that upright tubas even of a similar weight probably do all right.

Comments about K&M 14940 Tuba Stand:

For the record, this stand works with my 1958 Martin "Mammoth" 6/4 tuba, but I had to bend one of the curved rests on the bell side of the tuba and move the upright extension from the inside of the stand to the outside, inverting the bolts so that the nuts are on the inside rather than the outside, to get a little more extension than in the default setup. The curved pieces bend easily to accommodate the tubing on larger instruments, but hold their shape.

Stays upright and is fairly stable even with the recording bell, but be sure the nuts on the uprights are tight and the tuba is resting squarely on the bottom rest so that it doesn't tip forward. Slightly longer legs wouldn't be a bad thing for large instruments like this one, but compared to anything else out there for standing a tuba upright on the floor, I like it.

The stand arrives in a very compact package, and can fold down partially to carry it to gigs, but I wouldn't want to have to loosen and reset the bolts every time to collapse it as small as it originally came.

Comments about K&M 14940 Tuba Stand:

This a very well-made and extremely stable adjustable tuba stand that fits my German tuba very well. I use it in my home studio. It's a great improvement on putting the tuba down on the bell and having to worry that it's going to tip over if I brush against it the wrong way. German-made product and it shows.

Comments about K&M 14940 Tuba Stand:

I bought the K&M 14940 Tuba Stand to replace one that I have been using for about 17 years and plan on getting at least the same length of use from this one.

      Very Stable Stand

Comments about K&M 14940 Tuba Stand:

Whether using this stand during formal performance or just to park your tuba in the music room - this is a great stand! My 35-pound Besson tuba is much easier to manage when I keep this stand in front of my chair, and the only "lifting" I do is from this tuba stand to a tuba rest.
