You can't go wrong with this bari!

I was introduced to Keilwerth saxes back in the late '70s when they were making horns for Armstrong under the brand name of H. Couf. I played one way back then and dreamed of owning one ever since. If you like the classic dark rich bari sound with overtones to die for, this is your horn. Unlike most other brands, this horn is not a stencil copy of the Selmer Mark Vi. It was designed from the ground up by Keilwerth and stands on its own merit. It is a bit heavier than most baris out there because the metal is a bit thicker, but that also makes it less likely to dent when you accidentally bump it into something. The keyboard is unique to Keilwerth and definitely a feat of German engineering. It feels solid and the G# lifter is a huge benefit. Because it's heavy, once set up and adjusted it stays adjusted. Keilwerth is the one remaining manufacturer that still makes most of the instrument by hand. As a result each one is slightly different from every other one, but they are consistent, high quality instruments. The only thing I don't like is the case. It's a beast and could use wheels.
