The first Kohlerts were made in the region of Czech Republic in the late 19th century, mostly high-quality instruments. They have remained in more or less continuous poroduction since then, though the brand has been passed around between various manufacturers. They had some rough years in which their reputation was tarnished, but under current quality control oversight, they have emerged as a reliable manufacturer of student instruments.

My uncle bought me this saxophone as a gift, but not knowing about saxophones, (unfortunately) bought this saxophone. From the day I got this saxophone, i have encountered nothing but problems. This saxophone is made of the softest brass i have ever seen. I take excellent care of my saxophone, but it still gets bent out of shape easily. The tone is thin at its best. If you are looking for a cheap starter saxophone, all I can say is look elsewhere.
I originally bought this horn as a toy as I play baritone sax mostly. I was VERY surprised by this sax. This is a great horn, I've playing for 16 years and have played many horns and this is right up there with the best. This is an exact copy of a Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II and plays beautifully and effortlessly. Sold rich tone and a warm bright timbre. It blends right in with the band and has a great voice for solos too. I'd save your money on a Yamaha YAS-23 alto and buy one of these. It plays better than any beginner instrument and plays just as good as a Selmer. The keywork is light and responsive. The only thing I didn't like about it was the mouthpiece. I do suggest purchasing a Yamaha 4C or 5C for this sweet horn.
My daughter has been using this sax for 2 years and she loves it.
Special comment to your customer service. I wanted the company to know that customer service is outstanding and your Customer Expert Mr. Charles was very professional, kind and very patient with me.
