I had this piece up agaisnt the vandoren m13 and m15 both in profile 88 and the lomax r series, The R series I nearly picked over this but, the sound was a bit duller. The vandorens sounded just stuffy and bland compared to this mouthpiece. It was very full in sound and easy to play on. I would definatly recommend this mouthpiece.
I auditioned this piece against a Vandoren B45, Hite D, and Grabner CMZ. I ended up going with the Grabner, though it was a tough call. The Vandoren and Hite sounded amateurish by comparison with the other two. The Grabner sounded just a bit darker, especially on the low notes, which I like. It did this without sacrificing any projection. The Lomax was a bit harder to get used to, and I found I'd have to change up my embochure a bit to get it to sound like I wanted to sound. Still, the Lomax was a very good piece. Plenty of volume without much edge.
