Lyons glockenspiels feature solid wood tone boxes with all-glued construction for maximum resonance. Plus, note names are stamped on the top of each aluminum tone bar, which is single-pin mounted for a rich, warm sound. The wide bars are excellent for younger students needing a larger target. Units include two F# and one Bb bar to allow your students to play in various keys.
The note range for this instrument is C3 “ A4 and includes Add-on bars F#3, Bb3, and F#4. This allows the key signatures of C, F, and G major to be performed.

Comments about Lyons Wide Bar Diatonic Alto Glockenspiel with Mallets:
I love the wide bars! My students hate playing my standard bar glocks, but never complain about the wide bar glocks. They are very easy to play. The tone is brighter with the wide bars, but still very pretty. The bars are akin to the individual chime bars some companies put out, but these sound better. The resonator box is cabinet grade plywood. The bottom sound board is MDF. It has little feet to keep it off the table/floor. (My expensive brand AG has pieces of felt that get all nasty!) My only gripe is it came with wood mallets that sound horrible on it. The picture on WwBw shows the G2 Kindermallets, which are rubber headed. It actually comes with G1 wooden mallets. I told them this had to be wrong but they said it was right. Oh, well. If it weren't for having to order other mallets, it would have been an easy 5-star rating.
