The layered construction makes the DX1E more rigid for enhanced volume and sustain. Compared to all-solid wood, it's also less prone to cracking and warping from changes in temperature and humidity. Performing Artist Neck Profile Offers Comfort

Martin shaped the DX1E's neck with stage performance in mind. The Performing Artist profile features a slimmer taper along its width for left-handed playing comfort. A smoother feel enhances fast runs and complex chording over extended practice or gigging sessions. The fingerboard also utilizes a flatter 16" radius for low, even action from nut to body joint. Combined with a thinner fingerboard, the PA neck lets your left hand move freely. The slim 1-3/4" nut width adds space between strings for accurate fingering.
