OVERVIEW

Accentuated cutaway and modified neck profile with Performance Artist Taper make this natural beauty fun and easy to play.

Introduced at the 2014 Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany, the Special Edition GPC-Aura GT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar comes equipped with Fishman F1 Aura Plus electronics and consists of an East Indian rosewood body with a satin finish and a polished gloss Sitka spruce top featuring a two-ring pearl rosette. Added features include a certified African blackwood bridge and fingerboard, with hexagon pearl inlays. The nickel ratio tuners with skeleton knobs allow each string to have its own gear ratio. The skeleton button adds a jewel-like appearance and lessens the weight of the tuners. Fishman F1 Aura + electronics help you keep your tone in control when plugged in.

Comments about Martin Special Edition GPC-Aura GT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. The feel, playability and tone are outstanding. Overall acoustic sound is big, bright and loud! The Fishman AURA System electronics sound great when you need to plug in. Nice amount of bling! Between the fretboard inlays and the pearl sound hole ring I am stylin'! Tuning pegs are very precise and built-in tuner makes life easy. Highly recommend!

Comments about Martin Special Edition GPC-Aura GT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After many years and tons of research, I decided to by this Martin. It was the first guitar I've purchased without playing first. However, Martin has always been the premier guitar maker, so I took a chance. The guitar plays beautifully. The action is excellent. However, there is an annoying buzz when the G string is played open. Sadly, I've written many songs with open tuning which has the G as the drone note. This buzz does distract. I can't determine if the string is properly seated with the bridge pin or if there's a low spot in the nut. It is under warranty so I will have it looked at after the holidays.

The fret board is nearly flawless, however I did find two notes (on the high end) that seem to 'die' out when a vibrato is applied. Every other fret sounds and plays beautifully.

The guitar tunes and stays in tune very well. The Fishman F1 Aura Plus is superlative.

Comments about Martin Special Edition GPC-Aura GT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a wonderful acoustic/electric instrument that holds its own in a musical ensemble of bass, electric guitar, piano, keyboard, and drums. Plugged into an acoustic amp or a house sound system, it delivers a clear, full sound that can be can be controlled by two knobs on the instrument. On-board tuner is great! Be aware that it LOVES 9 volt batteries - always be sure to carry a couple of fresh ones in your case! It will let you know with a flashing light when your battery is about to die!

Comments about Martin Special Edition GPC-Aura GT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Kudos all around for this instrument - sound, playability, VTsystem, looks, and more. But why would they place the strap button on a cutaway guitar so that you have to reach over it to hit the high notes? The first thing you have to do is remove the button and put it on the back of the heel, leaving a hole in your brand-new guitar. The only remedy is to place a custom order and pay an extra 300 so they won't drill the hole. That is the one negative but it's the price you pay if you want an otherwise brilliant instrument.
