Villa-Lobos's piece for solo guitar is well-known from the published 1955 version, based on a 1948 manuscript. Recent scholarship has unearthed an earlier manuscript from the 1920s in the Max Eschig archives. This publication incorporates the composer's intentions from both manuscripts, and prints for the first time Villa-Lobos's original version of the Valse-Choro.
