OVERVIEW

Establish a deeper connection with your cajon.

This Cajon Pedal from Meinl leaves your hands unrestricted to play patterns while keeping steady kick drum rhythms beneath. The soft beater, smooth horizontal cable, and cradle-like mount combined with dual adjustable spring tension gives you a natural and stable feel beneath your foot, allowing you to create an infinite amount of grooves with total relaxation.

Located on both the pedal and beater mount are adjustable springs that allow you to dial-in the amount of response you require. Double strokes come effortlessly and dynamics are easy to control. The cable system is positioned horizontally to give the beater the best reaction time while relieving the cable of any tension areas. Heavy-duty spurs are located on contact points with the ground to prevent slippage and may be threaded all the way in or out for different types of flooring. Convert your cajon into a kick drum with the Meinl Cajon Pedal!

I'm a multi-instrumentalist and got my first cajon about a year ago. I was thinking it would be cool to get some bass beats while I was playing my guitar, and I received this as a Christmas gift this year.

It took some effort to set up, since there were no instructions, but once I realized that the brace went across the bottom and figured out which screw was responsible for locking the clip of the beater head part to the brace, it was very secure and easy to take on and off for transport. The adjustment tools have a clip in the pedal section so I always have the tools and don't have to worry about losing them or finding somewhere to put them.

It sounds great, and it's easy to choose how far left or right you want the beater to strike, though you don't have much choice up and down because of the way the beater strikes the surface, but if you don't need a full-surface strike you can get all kinds of variety in your sound. The cable that attaches the pedal parts seems to be good quality, I have no had any issues so far.

This is great for small jam sessions or anything else acoustic, since I am only one person but don't have a ton of patience to layer a lot of recording tracks when I'm just messing around this is great to give me a beat to back me up

I bought this pedal last May in preparation for a rare acoustic gig for my band. I loved it! It allowed me to recreate my tradition kit sounds on our songs while keeping with the acoustic atmosphere of the gig. Unfortunately, I can't practice in my apartment due to noise concerns, so the pedal remained attached to my Meinl cajon --safely in my living room-- after that gig until several months later in mid-October.

By the end of the first song, the pedal was becoming sluggish for no discernible reason. I adjusted the spring tension to loosen it up, but to no avail. By the end of the second song, it was becoming tough to play anything other than single notes, as attempts to double-up were useless due to the now-sluggish response time. Early in the third song? The paper-thin cable sheared off on the beater-side of the pedal.

I used this pedal for 1-and-1/4 gigs before it completely broke.

Adding insult to injury, when I reached out to Meinl customer support to ask them if I had any recourse, I never received a response. I even have video from the audience of the show pre-pedal, post pedal, and when the pedal snapped.

I've loved Meinl percussion instruments for years and have used them with my standard kit. I was even looking forward to incorporating the Meinl pedal and cajon into my kit until this happened. I will never again purchase a Meinl product after this incident and the subsequent utter lack of customer support.

Comments about Meinl Chain Drive Cajon Pedal with Soft Beater and Adjustable Spring Tension:

I bought this cajon pedal and during the first song we played, the pedal completely collapsed. After an hour or so adjusting the pedal I thought I had it fixed. It lasted 1 night. The 2nd night during a gig, the cable completely shredded, rendering the pedal completely inoperable. I took it back the next day and got my money back. There is absolutely nothing positive I can say about this poorly made pedal.

Comments about Meinl Chain Drive Cajon Pedal with Soft Beater and Adjustable Spring Tension:

I like the quality and it helps in some circumstances. I could only get it to quarter notes at best. Tried eight notes and pedal does not respond quick enough. This works for one of our percussionists that can not reach down to play the bass drum with her hands. Now she can play quarter notes and shaker or use both hands for snare and other beats

Comments about Meinl Chain Drive Cajon Pedal with Soft Beater and Adjustable Spring Tension:

The pedal is fantastic. It would have been nice to get some sort of instructions or set up tips. Once I got the pedal dialed in it works great. It frees my hands up to use a set of cajon brushes. I also use a tamborine that I stomp with my left foot (kinda like a hi hat). It's like a complete drum kit that takes up very little space.

I ordered the Meinl Cajon Pedal a few weeks ago and love the action of this pedal. Also really like the beater of this pedal compared to the other brands. This pedal is great if you are the only percussionist and need to free up your hands to play other instruments.

I use this pedal to add some kick while playing keyboard in my trio. It works flawlessly. I like the fact that I can leave the cajon stan alone or I can sit and play. This pedal is versital enough to accomidate all types of players. The beater is perfect for cajon use and sounds great.

I use this pedal, a 8 inch high hat and a 16 inch ride to create essentially a small drum set. The pedal allows you to sit upright to play the cymbals as well as the snare region without having to bend over to hit the middle of the cajon. I love this product and i use it every time i get my cajon out.

I use the pedal to hit the bass portion of the cajon while playing the snare region with the meinl cajon brushes. I also have a 8 inch high hat as well as a 16 inch ride to essentially make a very tight acoustic setup, The pedal allows to be more upright to play the cymbals and snare region as if it were a small drum kit. I really like this product.

Comments about Meinl Chain Drive Cajon Pedal with Soft Beater and Adjustable Spring Tension:

First time setup was on a gig, so little time to get it dialed in. I've used plenty of single, double pedals and remote hats, but this takes a bit of tweaking out of the box to get it functioning and comfortable. I had trouble with the pedal not working half way through the gig. Took me some time to figure out what was wrong and how to fix (a screw had loosened and the beater wasn't hitting the cajon). I'd recommend spending some time getting it setup and feeling good before performing. Also, keep in mind that the cable does not detach, so care needs to be taken where/how it's packed. I kept the original boxes.

Pedal had a couple of loose parts out of the box. Also, spring tension and the angle of the cable coming off the cam needed some adjustment. Fortunately, there are a couple YouTube videos that show how to do this.

Wasn't sure how this would work at my church, but after hooking this up, (which was very easy). This was a nice soft sound and added a lot to certain songs. We don't have drums at out church, we are using conga's, jembe, and the cajon, so this was a really nice added feature to my set. I love it !

This is a great pedal. Multiple points of adjustment allow a person to really dial in the action. The large-mass beater adds a lot of low end frequencies to your strike, as opposed to other beater types out on the market. The beater will also keep unnecessary marring of the soundboard of your Cajon. Just be sure to set up, tighten and make all adjustments prior to use.

Comments about Meinl Chain Drive Cajon Pedal with Soft Beater and Adjustable Spring Tension:

I enjoy playing my Cajon box along with my accordion. The chain drive pedal with the soft beater is a welcome addition to my one-man band. I especially like the pedal attachment to my box which anchors the pedal, not letting it crawl away while playing.

First one I ordered came in with the plastic cable connector on the beater end broken. Returned it and received a replacement over a week later. Same problem in the same place. Looked like it was the same pedal sent back to me, but I can't say for sure. In any case, this pedal would probably be good, if the cheap plastic cable connections were replaced with metal. Poor design. The rest of the pedal feels good and solid, and seems to work smoothly. I upgraded to the LP pedal instead of trying this one a third time, and I am glad that I did. The small difference in price is well worth it.
