The bass drum hoop claw hooks that ordinarily come standard on a Pearl Roadshow trap drum set are configured in such a way so that the square heads of the bass drum tension rods stick out beyond the actual hoop. These protruding square heads can very easily destroy whatever foam padding that may happen to be glued to the inside of some of the nicer bass drum instrument shipping cases. Replacing these stock claws with the D-042 Series claws solves this problem by allowing the square heads to be utilized in the counter sunk position under the actual hoop. Additionally, the D-042 claw can make an undersized "baby" eighteen inch (18") bass drum look larger and more massive in appearance.

I bought a used junior drum set for my 3 yr old granddaughter who loves playing my drums. the kit had many major parts missing in order to make it playable. The kind man at Musician's friend took the time to listen to my issues and then went and checked with his associates before suggesting what he thought would work for me.He assured me if it didn't work, I could return the items....the basss drum claw hooks worked like a charm and now my grand daughter is "boom Boom'g" to her heart's content and driving her parents nuts. Isn't that what grandparents are supposed to do? my sincere thanks to musician's friend for caring enough to listen and help make this grandpop look good. Bless you folks!
