OVERVIEW

The Pearl Piccolo has landed.

The Pearl PFP105E Piccolo has landed. The Pearl 105E piccolo employs a new composite, Grenaditte. As this new material is impervious to temperature and humidity, there is no danger of cracking and intonation is much more stable. The best feature though is the sound. The Grenaditte piccolo has a sound as sweet and dark as grenadilla.

Smooth Playing Experience

By

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

This piccolo is a smoother-playing little flute than another piccolo I own and I was immediately happy that I had spent the money. It lived up to the comments of previous reviewers. I am not a "musician" in the strict sense, but it is important for me to be able to make music effectively both for own pleasure and in my work, which involves ministry. The tone is clear and ringing, a joy. I am getting more range than I did previously. The only complaint would be that the b-flat key is broader than I am used to, and I flat a b-natural too often when I am not being sufficiently mindful. But that is not enough to lower an excellent rating.

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I have used this piccolo for two years. I play inside in recital halls and outside in summer in parks, etc. This piccolo stands up to the weather and sounds warm in a concert hall. Not shrill at all. Stable intonation, fast key action for stars and stripes. I play it intermittentle while I sub, and it lets me pick it up and start playing. It is very user-friendly!

      Great piccolo!

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I have been playing this piccolo for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love it! I was looking for an exceptional piccolo for a great price and I definitely found it with this one. The intonation is great, except the middle is a bit flat (maybe it's just me). The response is also great on every note except high b natural; it just doesn't seem to want to come out too easily. But overall this piccolo was a great buy, and I love the fact that it's composite because I use it for marching band as well. This piccolo also blends very well with the band. If you're looking for a first piccolo or even a step-up instrument, this one is definitely the way to go!

Best Piccolo Behind a Powell Handmade!

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I wanted to order a piccolo I could play that would be durable for outdoor venues, but warm enough to play indoors. I used to own a Powell Handmade granadilla wood piccolo, which by the way was AMAZING. But this piccolo gives a Powell a run for its money. Pearl has combined the ability of projection and amazing tone quality. I was reluctant at first due to a low price, but I tested it and bought it on spot. LOVE IT.

      Flawless instrument!

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

Everything about this piccolo is amazing! It has a great low register, and the middle register speaks beautifully, but the best part is the high notes! This piccolo easily reaches a high D, written 4 octaves above middle C! Even better, it can be used outside with no fear of cracking! Excellent buy for the beginning piccolo player or the professional!

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

Just got my piccolo today and only thing on my mind is how much can I sell my other piccolos for because I'm going to die with this one! Love the wing head joint! Overall performance is stunning! This piccolo is a doubler's delight! I'm enjoying the piccolo now! No excuse not to own one if you ever have to play piccolo! Lower register is strong and punchy and the upper register sings like a canary! Very respnsive third octave. The notes are all there! I have no problem with the third octave B and C. This baby sings!!!

      Perfect!!!

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

Not for one second do I regret purchasing this piccolo. Not only does it get the job done but it's very easy to handle and play. The first thing I noticed was the key action which was very level and balanced. If you have big hands like I do then this is the piccolo for you as the keys have more distance between them than other brands. The tone is powerful and clear and the high wave style head joint makes playing this instrument much easier. I've only been playing piccolo for a year but the more time I spend with this instrument, the more I learn about it. This piccolo is fantastic for the advancing student AND professionals. Amazing work Pearl!

      Great Piccolo

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I play on an Hammig piccolo during symphony season and was playing on a silver Haynes on our outdoor venues. I couldn't justify keeping the $5000. Haynes just for Summer concerts so I sold it and purchased this piccolo to play at outdoor venues. I like this piccolo BETTER than I liked the Haynes. I took it out of the case for the first time, played a few notes and then whizzed up to a high C with very little effort. I am truly impressed! The tone is remarkable! It is a little brighter than the Hammig which is nice for outdoor venues. I can't get a high C out of the Hammig and the B/Bb takes a lot of concentrated effort. Also, the Ab is effortless. I purchased the Hammig with a mechanism that makes the Ab easier to play (a feature that adds about $1000.00 to the price). This piccolo must fit my embrouchure, because the Ab is effortless and easier than the Hammig and the Haynes. We all know that every Summer you NEED that Ab for Stars and Stripes! Keep in mind that if you are switching from a metal piccolo or flute to this type headjoint it is going to require some adjustment in your embrouchure. This is a GREAT piccolo for a super price!

      Lovin' the Piccolo

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

Pearl has found a great niche with this instrument. I don't think any other piccolos in this price range deliver this quality. As on all pearl instruments, the intonation is great, and the keywork is light and comfortable. But unlike their flutes, which to me feel a bit light and dainty, the piccolo feels sturdy and has a nice weight. I have used mine for recording so far, with very good results. The full range of the instrument is satisfying; the lows are round and smooth, and the highs not to shrill. I have played more flute than piccolo, and the Pearl made for an easy transition, as piccolos are more tempermental than flutes.

Comments about Pearl Flutes PFP-105 Grenaditte Piccolo:

I have had this piccolo for a few years. I am now in college and play it in my wind ensemble class and everyone is in awe of the sound and look of it. In high school, I received MANY compliments from my flute teacher, band director, and people from the audiences from our concerts. Just last week, my new wind ensemble teacher was sitting behind me when I played a High B flat and he said "wow! I have never heard a piccolo play that and it sounded amazing!" I have no problem getting high B flat, B or C or any of the low notes. Only negative is that A flat is a little out of tune
