OVERVIEW

All you have to do is find the song inside.

The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search For Growth Through Music is bassist Victor Wooten's an inspiring tale about the power of music. Grammy-winning musical icon and legendary bassist Victor L. Wooten's story tells the tale of a struggling young musician who wants music to be his life and wants his life to be great. From out of nowhere it seems, a teacher arrives and his journey begins. Part musical genius, part philosopher, part eccentric wise man, the teacher guides the young musician on a spiritual journey and teaches him that the gifts we get from music mirror those from life, and every movement, phrase, and chord has its own meaning.

Comments about Penguin Books The Music Lesson Book - A Spiritual Search For Growth Through Music:

This book is a must read for any serious musician, especially for educators. Victor's story shows us how to speak through music, not just hit notes on an instrument. It is written from a bass player's perspective, but the entire story is applicable to any musician (anything a non bass player wouldn't understand is explained). If you're struggling to progress in your musical career, read this book!
