Comments about Pork Pie Rosewood Zebra Maple Snare Drum:
This is the second Pork Pie Snare I've owned. The first being a used 13x7 Little Squealer that has many small vent holes. It was my first Pork Pie drum and I loved that snare, though I parted with it. Now I just received this Zebrawood snare in the size 13x7. It comes with a nice Remo Coated head, not sure which one(ambassador?), and a nice set of snare wires. I haven't done much to the snare yet. I only did a quick tune on the tap head, and tightened up the snare wires. I was instantly happy to hear what is so far my favorite snare drum. It beats out my old little squealer snare. Not having the vent holes is probably a big reason why. This snare is a very nice pop/crack, but has enough depth to get a low end sound, combing together my favorite snare size 13x7. The head that came with it is very nice, and don't have plans to replacement it any time soon. The snare is very sensitive, making ghost notes a breeze, and it just a has a wonderful warm sound to it. There's not much recoil/ring after a smack, which I've heard more in the larger size snares, being 14". You can't go wrong with this snare.
