Sterling Silver has long been acoustically preferred for its flexibility, wide range of colors, and resonant sound.
Aurumite is a patented process that creates tubing made from interlocking layers of gold and silver. This unique material combines the projection of silver with the warmth of gold.
Philharmonic - The Philharmonic is defined by its broader embouchure plate which make it the most resistant of the styles offered by Powell. Articulation is crisp and clean and this style is capable of broad dynamic and timbral ranges. A player can create a rich tone with extraordinary power and focus.
Soloist - The soloist style was developed in collaboration with renowned flutist Ransom Wilson. The strength and flexibility of this headjoint allows the player to fill a hall or perform the quietist of passages easily, and with complete command. The embouchure plate - slightly more curved than the Philharmonic style - provides the player with quick articulation, while a new style of undercutting gives the headjoint a full range of colors.
Venti - Powell worked with international flutist Paul Edmund-Davies to develop the Venti style headjoint. Mr. Edmund-Davies desired a headjoint that mirrored his experiences singing in a cathedral choir. The result is a headjoint that allows for excellent depth of sound through all three octaves and is especially resonant and free in the third octave. The pitch is stable thoughout the dynamic range, with a sound that is powerful without being wild or breaking up.

Comments about Powell Custom Series Flute Headjoints:
I bought the Venti headjoint so that I could upgrade the sound of my Powell Signature Flute, and I was not disappointed. This headjoint improved the sound of my flute tremendously. It is very easy to play in all registers, and offers the beautiful tone color that I was trying to find. Compared to the Soloist and Philharmonic headjoints, it was very easy blowing and particularly colorful.
