OVERVIEW

A favorite from the past redesigned for better contact and strength

The H-Ligature and Cap was conceived as a "retro" version of the famous Harrison ligature used by many of the world's greatest clarinetists and saxophonists. Rico's H-ligature offers the sought-after features of this popular design.
The new H-ligature holds the reed firmly to the table of the mouthpiece assuring better contact and therefore reducing leaks along the side rails. Additional support has been added to the ligature brackets to increase durability.

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

I have had this ligature for years. I absolutely love it. I personally think that this works the best with any rico metallite mouthpices (m5, m7 and m9).

Retraction of earlier criticism

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

Conditioned by earlier reviews to the (too) small size, I was installing by loosening off the screws entirely and consequently having trouble tightening. I have found that the only way to wear this lig is to slip it over the mpc, screws in place, w/reed attached. I am now perfectly comfortable with this lig - it plays like a dream and I have now ordered the same for a rubber mpc. I am sold!!

Me too

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

My lig. was delivered today. I knew that previous reviews were critical of the fact that this lig did not fit the mpc. Mine is a Otto Link Super ToneMaster - the same mpc as shown in the photos by WWBW. The lig is so tight that the receivers for the screw can not be aligned. The risk of stripping these screws is, I think, ever present. I, at last, have it fitted to my mpc and I wouldn't want to have to change reeds in the middle of a gig. Having said that, the sound is wonderful. Unfortunately the lig is NOT RETURNABLE or I would certainly do so. Caveat emptor! Rico says (on the box)"Fits Otto Style Mouthpieces" WWBW says "Fits Otto Link Mouthpieces" - a subtle difference there.

Barely fits - but works well

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

I found that the ligature does close well enough on my standard Otto Link tenor mp that I'm comfortable performing on it. And the sound / response is indeed improved over the standard Link ligature. But if you're going to sell an item specifically meant to fit on Link mouthpieces you'd think a little more care would have gone into getting the size right. The screws have to be opened almost to the point of falling off to get the reed in. And again this on a standard metal Link, not the NY series.

Great Ligature, It's a Shame it Doesn't Fit Correctly

By

Comments about Rico H-Ligature for Tenor Saxophone:

I got this ligature in the mail yesterday and was excited to give it a try, I've heard lots of great things about all of the old Harrison ligatures and was told Rico gave them a good run for their money. Upon putting it on metal Otto Link, the ridge at the top of the mouthpiece doesn't allow the lig to screw tight. As a matter of fact, I can barely screw it at all because an arc shape is created which bends the top of the ligature. And that's a darn shame because the sound is incredible and is without a doubt, the best ligature I've ever played as a part of my set up. I wouldn't be too comfortable going to rehearsals or gigs with this ligature as I'm afraid one or both of the screws may fall off. That's the only thing keeping me from rating this lig 5 stars.
