The Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle reduces tension, increases relaxation and endurance and promotes correct hand position. You'll never play the clarinet again without it!

The Ridenour Thumb Saddle eliminates the "pinch" tension between the thumb and fingers by simply opening the hand up. The increased openness promotes the needed relaxation without throwing the thumb and fingers out of balance. The curved fingers promote a much more efficient finger motion and increased endurance

Great product - it helps relax your right hand and makes playing easier. Try this: form a nice, round letter "C" with your right hand, and see how easily your fingers move. Now pinch the hand tighter, with your thumb closer to your fingers and try again. Big difference. That's what this thumb saddle does for you. I also bought an almost $200 Kooiman thumb saddle as well. I do like it, but I like this thumb saddle even better, and it's easy to get on and off. You can't lose - give it a try!

The title says it all. I was interested to see if I noticed an improvement in my fingering from using it, but I never used it long enough to tell. After ten minutes my thumb was already sore, and I just couldn't use it any longer. It might have worked if the material was softer/spongier or something.

Did not relieve my discomfort

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

It looks comfortable but it's not. If it were made of a dense foam it may cushion and provide the support I need. I thought this product would help with the thumb pain and weakness I get from playing. I have nerve damage and it affects my duration of playing because my thumb gets weak and painful but sadly it did not.

It works!

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

I bought it because I was developing a very sore spot on my right thumb from the metal clarinet thumb rest. From the moment I put the saddle in place the pain went away and my playing is no longer distracted by my thumb.

Blessed relief!

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

We all get old. We all still love to make our music. But as we age, parts of body begin to let us know they are there... My thumb joint had started to hurt in practice and rehearsals so I thought some extra padding would help. While looking for anything helpful, I found the Ridenour Thumb Saddle. Besides making my hand more open for correct fingering, my thumb rarely hurts any more. This little black widget has prolonged my comfortable playing time. I am going to order another for the "in case" I lose this one!!!

Good with Modification

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

My daughter got me one after I told her about an occasionally painful thumb joint. It definitely puts the thumb joints in a different position. But I found the saddle didn't follow the contour of my thumb, making it uncomfortable. I was able to easily re-countour it with some sandpaper, leveling the bulge where your thumb supports the horn and where your thumb rests. It feels much better and time will tell if it actually helps relieve the joint pain.

Tops!

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

This is a must for the clarinetist that double on the Eb sopranino clarinet. It fees up the right hand from the tight almost cramped hand position and certainly eases he access to the right inex finger trill keys.

A Good Ride!

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

This product relieves tension on the right thumb. For me it gives extra agility to my right little finger. It was an agile little digit anyway after years of practice, but now it is allowed to be relentless with the thumb saddle. It is not for all players. I would think that people with especially long or thick fingers might find it a hamper. However for me it works well. I'm ordering a few more. (Works well on my Buffet, Selmer, and my Buffet Albert System clarinets.)

It's simple and it works.

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

My thumb and hand were hurting enough to consider some of the more complicated solutions, but I tried the Ridenour thumb saddle first. After a couple weeks the problem is much improved and as a bonus I think it allows a better position for the right hand and fingers. It's simple and inexpensive and it works.

Great Product

Comments about Ridenour Clarinet Thumb Saddle:

After decades of clarinet playing, I found this thumbrest immediately improved my right hand position, opening it up a bit as advertised. I never play without it now. Mind you, the improvement may be subtle; it will not make you a different player - but for the price/ease of use, it's a great deal!
