Selmer quality at a student price.

The Selmer 1430LP is a great-sounding, durable and easy to play Bb bass clarinet. It is tough enough to withstand the rigors of bandroom shenanigans, but has a truly beautiful sound. A single joint body and low Eb on the body mean there are no keys spanning joints. Its new, larger and complex bore provides a deep, woody and rich bass clarinet sound while still being a very free-blowing instrument. The newly designed key work is quick, agile and more comfortable for smaller hands. It is matched with a redesigned case that suspends the clarinet and offers extreme protection in the bandroom or on the road.

The body material is high impact ABS, and it features a nickel-plated brass neck and bell and nickel silver keys. The Boehm key system (17 Keys / 6 Rings) allows it a full repertoire. Nickel plating and stainless steel springs along with leather pads and threaded posts give it the feel of an intermediate instrument. It comes with mouthpiece, and a nickel-plated ligature and cap. Wood shell case is included, as are a swab and some cork grease.

One piece resonite body.
Comfortable, pro angle neck.
Nickel plated keys.

Comments about Selmer 1430LP Bb Bass Clarinet:

Just learning to play this instrument, so I can't comment on quality of sound, etc. but it is a beautiful instrument and came with a ligature, reed and neckstrap, in a sturdy case. Wish I could have afforded a low C bass clarinet, but this one is very nice.

Comments about Selmer 1430LP Bb Bass Clarinet:

I am amazed by this low cost Bass Clarinet. I have played many different brands over the years but the 1430 is by far the best. It has excellent pitch and intonation throughout the scale, and the ease of playing is unmatched. I would highly recommend this instrument to students or doubling professionals. The price is right and so is the sound. The feel is excellent and easy to master. The included mouthpiece is so good I am going to get a second one as a back up. Thank you Selmer for making such a great instrument.

Comments about Selmer 1430LP Bb Bass Clarinet:

Never before have I played a Plastic bass that had a such a warm and full bodied sound. The Eb on the body really helps connect the break together and the B sounds more closer in tone to the Bb. And that's another thing. The Throat tones on this Bass play themselves. Very easy to control in all registers and getting a good tone on Eb1 to Eb4 has never been easier for me. The neck angle on this is the best I've seen across the other "top" Bass Clarinet's. The Low note's sound like the low full tones they should, the throat sound nice and warm like they should. Getting into the Clarion is no hassle, the notes pop out with a wonderful round sound. The key's are well built and sturdy and feel's just like a Soprano Clarinet. The Body may be 1 piece but that's a small price to pay for honestly the best student Bass on the market today. But then again, what do you expect from the company that makes the best pro bass on the market.
