Selmer slide/cork grease is the only grease I use for my french horn slides. I've used it for years and will continue to use it.
Not too thick, not too thin. This keeps the slides sealed and in place, but lets them move with precision when you want them to.
In college, my oboe professor swore by this and had none, so when I found some I stocked up on it. The few ounces in the bottle lasts for years and thoroughly works on all cork applications! I use nothing else on my oboe or saxophones.
I use this stuff on my saxophone neck corks. This stuff soaks in, doesn't glob up and it only takes a very little to do the job. After a few applications, you don't have to grease as often because the cork will be more supple than if you had been using chapstick style cork grease.
