Not the Quality I Expected from Sonor

By

from Charlotte, NC

Comments about Sonor Global Beat Alto Glockenspiel:

I am NOT amused with my purchase! The construction of this instrument is very lacking in quality. The rails for the bars are held in by what appear to be 1 peg on each end and glue. The glue separated almost immediately, causing the rails to "spin" on the pegs. I took the bars off to glue the frame back together and found a frame so simple and lacking in reinforcement, that it looked more like a craft project than a serious musical instrument. This line of Sonor instruments is not made in Germany like the ones I have come to respect. It is disappointing that they have either outsourced this line or stamped their name on an inferior product like so many other instrument companies. This alto glockenspiel may carry the Sonor name, but it does not carry the expected Sonor quality. I am very disappointed. I bought 4 and I feel that I will be worrying about these instruments daily and repairing them frequently. The mallets were more like those I would expect to be provided with a toy. I did not even bother to use them and opted for mallets I already had. They also do not come with a place to store mallets (like previous versions), so I had to improvise. I repeat...very disappointed.
