Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP60 Electric Guitar:
In this mid line priced guitars, the devils in the details.
Pickups sound pretty good. I swapped the bridge for a crunchlab, simply because the stock pup was a little bright.
Neck feels good. Easy to play.
Body contour is nice. Takes a bit to get used to, but Im diggin it now for sure.
Trem saddles are nice. No sharp ends and it works the way it should.
Sharp fret ends. I understood these went through QC in the USA for Ball. The guy must have taken a lunch break on mine, they were sharp.
Unfinished cavities. The cavities that store the wiring, as well as under the pickups looked awful. Completely rough and ugly. PRS SE cavities are nice and smooth. I lined the cavities with copper tape, because the paint in the cavity was so thin and sparce, it didnt ground well.
All the tuners were loose. Again, total miss on QC. Its the little things that cause the build quality and craftsmanship to take a dive.
Overall, its a good guitar. But there are better built guitars in that price range. PRS SE is leaps and bounds better built. Unfortunatly I was under the impression that Ball products had crafstmanship second to none. This oversee's model is just missing a few pieces to be A LOT better.
This could be nit picky, and it is. However for 600 of my hard earned money, I expect a guitar to be playable directly out of the box. This guitar was not. I kept it because the neck was straight, the pickups sound good and it has lots of features I wanted.
