Ideal for the traveling guitarist.
The Voyage-Air VAOM-2C model Orchestra Model is a foldable guitar that has a soft cutaway and is an all-solid AAA grade wood constructed, authentic forward shifted scalloped X-braced cannon. Using a very tight-grained solid Sitka spruce top and solid rosewood mahogany back and sides, this travel guitar is designed to excel in ensemble usage. Loud and crisp, the VAOM-2C acoustic guitar is an excellent choice for an artist that plays with other instrumentalists.
The patented Voyage-Air Guitar folding technology allows you to fold your guitar in half, and fit it into a custom backpack-style carrying case. The Deluxe Voyager custom case is included with every Voyage-Air Guitar.

The reason for buying a guitar like this is to have a high quality, "road warrior" instrument. As long as the instrument isn't subjected to "normal" travel conditions, it will survive and out perform 3/4 size guitars (such as Baby Taylors and Little Martins). However, the transit case that comes with the instrument DOES NOT stand up to protecting the instrument against those surrounding travelers that will inevitably throw their luggage in the overhead bin on top of your prize possession. This is particularly true with the grain structure of the neck and the hinge points. When I contacted Voyage Air to tell them about where the neck snapped along the grain at the hinge point, they stated they would charge me $600 to make the repair - though it really appears to me to be more of a design flaw (in the case AND the neck design). On the up side, when it works, it works well and sports rich tone and good playability. The instrument itself has a nice rosette and bindings, and doesn't have the nasal sound of instruments built from composite materials. Additionally, the VOAM-2C, a guitar touted to be in their premiere line, does not include any electronics. I ended up buying a Fishman in-hole pickup to get me past this challenge, but again - Voyage Air should have an option to include something like a LR Baggs M-80 (or equivalent) pickup. So, unless you're mic'd abiently or put in a pickup system you've got a guitar that is not gig-ready. Voyage Air really needs to work these design flaws out and stand behind their products when we spend the amount of money they're demanding for this product.
