Brilliant cedar tone in a nicely priced Yamaha classical guitar.

This beautiful classical guitar from Yamaha has the classic features of expensive classical guitar models, yet is offered at a very affordable price.

The full-size Yamaha CG122MC classical guitar gives lots of bold tone balanced from lows to highs, with a slight emphasis on the mid-range for extra punch. The result is a nylon-string guitar with plenty of projection to fill a small room with the soft, intimate sound of a nylon-string classical guitar.

The top features solid cedar top, a wood that emits an open tone right from the start.. The nato neck, back, and sides provide the force behind the Yamaha CG122MC guitar's tone, bringing out the deep sound of nylon strings. The rosewood bridge and fretboard add crisp sustain and clarity to your chords.

Dressed in a matte finish, and featuring chrome hardware and white pearloid peg tuners, this Yamaha guitar embodies the appearance of the classical guitar, yet is priced for anyone to own.

Comments about Yamaha CG122MC Cedar Top Classical Guitar:

Really solid build with a great tone. The action is low for a nylon string and it is very easy to play. The neck is comfortable and smooth, even if you have sweaty hands while you play. The matte finish is actually quite nice, but it makes the top of the guitar look like its laminated even though it's solid American Cedar. That doesn't really bother me because the tone speaks for itself. This might be the best nylon string guitar in its price range. It projects a very warm tone with plenty of bass. The treble doesn't really sparkle as much as higher end classical guitars, but it's very consistent up the fingerboard. The Nato back and sides are a lot higher quality than I expected. Yamaha did a really good job on this one. They also make this model with a solid spruce top (CG122MS), but I've heard that cedar is usually of better quality in this price range.

Comments about Yamaha CG122MC Cedar Top Classical Guitar:

Great little guitar right out of the box. I have wanted a nylon string guitar for years and finally ordered this cedar top Yamaha. With no hesitation we were making nice music within minutes. Two surprises, but not disappointments, were the width of the neck (it's wide compared to my steel string acoustic and electric) and the fact it was made in China. I had thought, maybe hoped it was made in Japan, but no, like so may other things today, it's Chinese. But that said, I can't fault it in any way, it's simply a fine and inexpensive guitar regardless of origin.
I have been playing rock, folk, and most everything else for more than 45 years now and would say i'm a "fair" guitar player. This guitar is just what this old picker wanted just now. I like it a lot!
