played on one purchased from the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp. Solid tuba, great balance, and fantastic tone. tuba flips are super fun and easy with this model. however, they are quite fragile, so be careful!
I marched '03 Cavaliers when we first got this line of tubas and the staff immediately noticed a difference in the sound versus the convertable horns they used the two prior summers. The only bad thing about playing the instrument is the high F and Bb are quite sharp. The 1 & 3 alternate for the F actually brings the pitch down. The tone is full, and it plays very smooth and clean. Best marching tuba on the market.
I had the opportunity of playing this horn for the Cadets during its debut in the summer of 2003. This is quite simply the best marching tuba I have ever used for several reasons. The prime feature of this horn is that it has an incredible ease-of-play and intonation control; itÆs easier to ôfeelö the horn. Alongside itÆs playing ability, it is very easy to physically control this horn. It is balanced in such a ways that the player does not have to worry about having an unbalanced end (Kanstul and Dynasty havenÆt paid any attention to thisàI have marched with both for different corps.) The horn is lighter than you might think, which is somewhat of an advantage for students who may not be of the biggest sort. The structural design cannot be touched; you should not have a problem finding a comfortable grip, as there are many different ways you can hold this horn. I do however offer a word of caution (this applies to any marching tuba): this is an extremely difficult horn to use. Be sure that whoever uses this horn knows what they are doing and that they are properly instructed. Make sure you have the necessary resources for make repairs, because you will have to make them eventually for this breed of horn. Accidents WILL happen.
This tuba has one of the best intonations, it plays great. It is weighted perfect to where it will be hard to fumble around with it, and it is extremely comfortable.
I purchased this horn from The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, and all I can say is great horn! It is balanced, great intonation, sounds great on the field! Thank you for reading the review of this GREAT horn!
