Comments about Yamaha YTR-8335LA Custom Series Bb Trumpet:
I searched for 7 years, played on many trumpets and by far this, for me, was the most efficient, consistent trumpet. I've had it for a year and have used it for solo jazz, lead, salsa, & classical gigs. It slots easily and it doesn't take a lot of energy to cut through a big band or be heard in a salsa band. In the past with my Bach I had to force & muscle out notes above a double G but with the Yamaha its much easier. Actually, this horn has aloud me to improve on my playing due to the fact that I don't have to work as hard. I purchased the Yamaha in silver. In my opinion, don't bother with the lacquer. It slows down the vibrations of the horn to much. Best of luck!

I have been a Yamaha artist since 1988 and own several models YTR-8335RG YTR-8345GS and now a YTR-8335LA Custom. This horn is just the right tool for the stage when I'm performing with my R&B group or playing lead in a Big band setting. Matching it up with an Eric Miyashiro mouthpiece or a GR 64.7S really lets me soar out and project over the rhythm section. The valves on this instrument are fast and smooth, and the response of the horn is superb!

I love Wayne's playing so thought I 'd give it (LA-Bb) a try. After 5 days I took it to South America and just played my first solo gig with the new LA Bb and must say I am really impressed it. It came through with a 5 star rating. Bravo, Yamaha!
Comments about Yamaha YTR-8335LA Custom Series Bb Trumpet:
Recently, I had the opportunity to play a Bergeron Yamaha and to compare it to my Bergeron Kanstul Model #1600. The Yamaha is a fabulous trumpet. The valves were smooth, the trumpet design and finish was absolutely gorgeous (lacquer looks like gold) and it played very similar to my Kanstul Bergeron Model. The Yamaha feels like a lighter horn to my hands. I feel this is one of the best Yamaha horns that I have ever played. The horn plays like a medium bore horn; however, the Bergeron lead pipe makes the blow feel open.

Comments about Yamaha YTR-8335LA Custom Series Bb Trumpet:
Right out of the box the first thing I noticed was that the valves were glassy smooth like my old 1966 Bach Strad and incredibly fast. I have played now for 38 years and this has to be the most responsive horn I've played to date. The sound is clean and pure and the horn slots well in all registers. I had been playing a Kanstul 1500 copper bell and really liked the way it played, but the Yamaha was remarkably better in clean attacks and sound quality. This horn seems to be the answer for someone looking for an all around horn that does just about everything well. I've had difficulty putting the horn down once I start playing and I seldom go back to the Kanstul even though I've always enjoyed playing it. You really need to try this horn if you are looking for one horn to meet 99% of all your playing needs.
