Woodwind & Brasswind Voted Favorite Place to Buy Musical Instruments

South Bend Tribune Reader's Choice Award Presented to Multi-Channel Retailer

The Woodwind & Brasswind was voted as the Favorite Place to Buy a Musical Instrument in the 2011 Reader's Choice Awards presented by South Bend Tribune. The award will be announced in the March 25 edition of the daily publication based in South Bend, IN.

"We're pleased to be the destination of choice for local musicians," Kurt Witt, director of marketing for Woodwind & Brasswind, said. "We've been working hard to improve our store experience, lessons and events, and we appreciate the recognition from the community."

In August 2010, the Flagship Superstore held the Annual Tent Event Sale and The Battle of the Bands, where local bands competed for more than $6,000 in cash and prizes, including a grand prize consisting of a $1,500 Woodwind & Brasswind Gift Certificate and 20 hours of studio recording time. Local radio station WRBR "The Bear" was on site with a live remote featuring radio show hosts Tommy Carroll and Reverend Ryno.

In January 2011, the Flagship Superstore hosted Leblanc Clarinet Artist Julian Bliss. Bliss delivered a performance and clinic for attending musicians. Specialists from Conn-Selmer were on hand to answer questions and attendees were eligible to win door prizes and gifts.

During the same month, The Woodwind & Brasswind partnered with local country music station B100 to welcome Steel Magnolia for a live in-store performance. This up and coming country music duo stopped at the Flagship Superstore as they passed through South Bend, IN, promoting their new CD release.

The Woodwind & Brasswind and radio station WAOR have selected the Logan Center, a local resource center for people with disabilities, as their charity of choice. Together, the groups have founded the School of Rock program, which is designed to help members enjoy the therapeutic benefits of playing music. A Logan Center debut performance was held at the Flagship Superstore in December 2010.

Flagship Superstore Manager Andrew Milius said he is proud of the designation by customers. "We're planning many new events, including a drum clinic on March 19th," he said. "We want to let local and regional customers know our store is a must-see for the musician in any family."
