I have tried Ultra Pure too. It is a fine oil, but Al Cass is as good, costs much less. I have used Al Cass for over twelve years and it never let me down! Great performance and valve.
Well, it's valve oil. It makes my valves fast, they don't stick, and it doesn't make them dirty. I used Blue Juice for three years, but then I found a bottle of this on the band hall floor, and haven't looked back since. Blue Juice tends to make my valves gummy, and at times putting it on sticky valves only makes them worse.
Good Quality Oil for the price a must buy, for Trumpet and many other valve instruments!
I have used this valve oil many times and have an issue with it that i have not been able to get rid of. I play the Euphonium about 3 to 4 hours a day, and of course valve oil is needed. So I apply the Al Cass valve oil and think the job is done. but within a matter of a minutes my valves continue to stick. This has occurred on my King Marching Euphonium more than my concert horns. so might just be the King. I have also had trouble using the oil on my slide for my Trombone it seems that you need a lot of oil for a short time of slickness on the slick. Overall it is good valve oil for the broke musician. It gets the job done but only for a short amount of time.
After 50 plus years of playing and trying many valve oils, I agree with the Internation Trumpet Guild laboratory analysis that Al Cass oil is exactly in the middle of thinnest to thickest to durability.
I have been using this oil on most of my trumpets for 20 years. It works great and doesn't cost too much.
This is the standard in valve oil. From the pros to the students, everyone uses this as it is far and away superior in quality.
Al Cass is still my favorite valve oil but, lately, I have had a strange problem with the caps on numerous bottles; they break apart. Today I dropped the cap of a fairly new bottle of AC and half of it simply broke off. This is hardly what I would expect from a piece of plastic. Morevoer, it happens even if I don't drop them. I've been using the product for over 30 years and never had this happen until recently. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem and if the company knows why. It's inconvenient to have to find some other way to contain the stuff once the cap has virtually disintegrated.
Since I started playing brass instruments 11 years ago, I have been using Al Cass. I have never had any problems with it. I never have to use too much of it, and it keeps my valve and slide action quick and smooth for months on end without gunking up or corroding my instrument. If you only play one instrument, a bottle should last you for a few years! It's inexpensive, so I would say that it is the best valve oil for your money.
I also had a problem with a broken cap. It broke from normal use ( never dropped). I rigged a temporary cap but it leaks if tipped so I can't put the bottle in my case. The oil works fine but the bottlecap is an unnecessary nuisance.
